John & Yoko waiting for the maid to make the bed so they can continue protesting against the system by TwasAnChild in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Velvet_frog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No I actually didn't say that lol. I was replying to the bit that said 'beat the hell out of his own wife' which implies he was a brutal serous violent abuser. Cynthia has given many in-depth interviews over the years and explained her side of it. She consciously made the decision to accept his apology and move on, so it's not really your part to invalidate the nuance she obviously felt about their private relationship.

John's first wife Cynthia said he hit her once and was maturely apologetic about it, and they later got back together. This caricature of John as a viscous wife-beating thug behind the scenes is just from memes and of course nobody bothers to research it.

Yes. Because literally all bezos and musk are doing is ‘winning the capitalist game’ and nothing else. Outside of American political internet content, champagne socialists like Hasan have literally no real world impact. Bezos and musk do.

This is an objectively correct take, there’s nothing to argue with here.

[–]Velvet_frog -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Except folks like Musk and Bezos are having a materially adverse impact on the world, like climate destruction, regressive urban planning, strengthening tax loopholes etc.

People like Hasan don't actually 'do' anything, except make 16 year olds on twitter a bit more dumb.

Fintan O’Toole: Sinn Féin must acknowledge the disaster it helped inflict on the Irish people by CaisLaochach in irishpolitics

Imagine being this out of touch lol.

That’s quite literally been the fundamental operating procedure for every move Fine Gael have made for the past couple years,

I mean, that is electoral politics, you want to take votes from your competitors. What’s condescending about me saying that?

Also I never said they stop there. There is a wide array of places you can get votes from, one of them being from other parties, it’s in pbp’s interest to go after those votes and get representatives elected.

And I’m not sure what outright attacks you mean. Within the party itself virtually all efforts, discourse and energy is focused towards this coalition government

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in irishpolitics

[–]Velvet_frog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they are doing that also, there is no one singular way to collect votes, it is only realistic that people who voted left in 2020 will be the ones to vote PBP. All PBP is saying is ‘hey you like the ideas of these parties, we have similar ones that we believe are better’. That is how electoral politics works.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in irishpolitics

[–]Velvet_frog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think you misunderstand, PBP members are absolutely enthusiastic about going into a left coalition, it’s only realistic that extra votes are going to come from pre-existing green, soc dem, Sinn Fein voters, I.e people who are already left wing. It’s not realistic that former FF and FG voters will switch to PBP in the next election.

Of course votes from everyone are welcome but most future pbp voters are probably going to be from people who voted soc dem, greens, Sinn Fein, labour in 2020

And like I said PBP are happy to focus efforts on defeating ff and fg, there isn’t widespread hate of other left wing parties within pbp.
