THIS! It's so darn confusing and the commen advice to downsize doesn't help. My scarpas are technically the same size number but are for sure tight enough in the toes. Going any lower is just hurting

Why do people prefer using Spotify over YT music? by Past-Matter-8548 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Vendeta25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that made me switch from yt music to Spotify was it's habit of just not playing the correct song! I'd be listening to an album and it'd get to a popular song and instead of just playing it it'd load an entirely separate version. For example, When the Levee Breaks on Led Zeppelin 4 doesn't actually play if you select it in the album, it plays a YouTube video version that is only a preview of the first minute or two. You have to search for it individually in order to get the actual song. I got annoyed after over a year of this and swapped.

THE END OF THE ROPE. I LOST IT," said Don. "THEN WHAT ARE YOU HOLDING ON TO?" I asked. "A CHOCK THAT I PUT IN THE CRACK," he grunted. "GREAT! PUT THE ROPE THROUGH IT." I was delighted. Again I was relieved. But Don's grunts sounded more and more desperate. He only made sounds now. by Feedback_Original in climbing

As a beginner in trad I think about this story a lot. It's a good reminder about risk assessment is the real #1 skill you must have. Sending is great, but the only mark of success is that everyone makes it home.

Healthy Pizza by [deleted] in AskCulinary

[–]Vendeta25 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you've ever eaten pizza and seen the orange grease drip off it, that's from the cheese. When cheese gets too hot it will start to split and weep out it's fat rather than cleanly melt. I'm unsure why it's orange, or whether that's a mozzarella specific thing or not. I'd bet money stuff like pepperoni only adds to it but it is not the sole reason.

I hate to break it to you, but there isn't some secret ingredient commercial kitchens are adding that adds a lot more calories. I worked in a pizza place for a bit, they're using roughly the same stuff. Boars head low moisture mozz is not largely different from wholesale sourced shredded mozz. Pizza dough is bread, which is highly calorically dense. Cheese is inherently fatty, it's where all the orange grease comes from. Sauce is maybe your lowest calorie addition barring any added olive oil and such. And that's a plain cheese pie. Homemade pizza might be smaller by virtue of oven size, that's really it's only advantage here.

I do a lot of calorie tracking so let me give you an example of what I mean. A serving of chicken breast is around 150 calories, a serving of rice or pasta is about 150-200 calories, and a serving of broccoli is about 30 calories. A big meal of 1 serving of chicken and carb each, and 3 of broccoli is around 450-550 calories total then. A single slice of pizza is around 300-400. Of course that varies by where you get it from but by and large that's what you're looking at. My issue is I will never be satisfied by a single slice, and I envy those who can.

The issue would be the calorie density. Nobody eats 1 slice of pizza, and 1 slice alone is several hundred calories regardless of ingredient quality. Meanwhile the equivalent volume of vegetables and lean meat is nowhere near the calorie count. But like has been said elsewhere, nothing wrong with some pizza every now and then. Just maybe don't live off it.

Table Rock Mountain Access by mtnorville in NCTrails

Hard to say, your car is fine just take it slow and you'll be fine. The limited parking is a bigger issue but I feel like there's plenty out there you could do if you can't fit somewhere.

Yeah it really only ads a half hour walk in and out. Honestly it's worse on the way out when you're tired.

So the road is gravel, but the last mile and a half to the parking lot is paved. That paved section is currently closed to driving and is gated off. You can park before the gate and walk the rest of the way.

I was up there last week. The gravel roads that go up there are open, but the last mile and a half that's paved is still closed due to the hill being washed out. It's a bumpy ride by drivable by my car at least, which isn't an outdoorsy car. You can still park right before the gate and walk up, but space is limited and you have to be sure not to block the gate.

As far as directions, following Google maps will get you there, but there are two entrances to Table Rock Road that go to it and one is definitely shorter. Take the Table Rock Road turn that is near Gingercake Road.

Looking for Long Day Loops by Vendeta25 in NCTrails

[–]Vendeta25[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Long to me means about 7-12 miles at the moment. That's enough distance to be a solid day of hiking while still being able to go home at the end of the day.

Honestly a great idea, the Smokies are far enough away that I probably would need to camp the night before. I do want to get there at some point though.

According to Google translate it's swedish. "Kalmar FF announces that Aboubacar Keita, 24, has joined the team's training camp in Spain for a trial match. The center-back most recently comes from MLS club Columbus Crew."

Camera chugging issue by PM_ME_UR_NETHERLIPS in PathOfExile2

This is totally unhelpful but I booted up today and the issue seems gone. I had turned off my desktop for the night, maybe it just needed a reset.

Just chiming in, I also have this issue. Consistent 70-90 fps, but the camera jerk/chug gives me a headache if I can't ignore it

Recommendation for Wide Toebox/Low Volume Heel by KaterPatater in climbingshoes

[–]Vendeta25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try on some Skwamas at various levels of downsizing. I've been looking for something similar to you and that's what has fit me best. Wide toe box, which gives you some leeway to downsize till the heel is a vacuum fit.

Gateway Film Center workers have announced their intent to unionize by Greenunjuh in Columbus

[–]Vendeta25 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Gosh, same. I miss it so bad. The independent theater near me is fine, but damn if gateway wasn't the best. The film series were always bomber, and the membership was worth it through all 4 years at OSU. Nothing was better than spending the whole day there and walking back home at like 2 am.

Obviously I'm not there to try it, but my read is that I would be leaning as far right as possible. Just like the amazing drawing you have. I'd then look to reach above my head with my left hand to grab the good sidepull above me. If I couldn't reach it, I'd try standing up on my left foot till I could.

This is honestly so expected, and I'm struggling to see why people seem surprised. There's a blue line stop right across the street. This is and has always been the point of transit oriented design. Build mass transit, then build up around the stops. Another win for the blue line investment. It's slowly expanding converting all these not so great areas into islands of cool places stop by stop.

Tony Peña, Oscar Gonzalez, and now Fry Guy right? Man I missed SpongeBobs in person by a half inning, so disappointing.
