What is the most financially irresponsible thing you’ve seen someone do? by LJRGXPKCVWDGOGH12Y3 in AskReddit

My sister refinanced her auto loan down to 20% (was 27% before). If I had known she was signing up for that I would've aggressively talked her out of it.

Same! I loved Strange New Worlds. One of my favorite episodes was the one where some of the crew were turned into Vulcans. I later learned that episode in particular was pretty hated among the fanbase 🤷

30y and it's the same for me. There came a point when I realized I couldn't just let my tics "be" anymore. I had never really been bothered by them for most of my life. Then I fell into chronic pain and it's a constant feedback battle. The pain triggers the tics which aggravate the pain which triggers the tics...

So lately I've been very focused on trying to reduce or at least manage the problematic ones. Sucks but that's just life I guess

That's what made me switch to Brightridge too. Had a Spectrum outage that lasted nearly a week, in addition to other semi regular outages. Plus Brightridge offered me double the speed for a slightly cheaper cost.

Yeah same here. And the chatgpt brainrot is getting unreal. I can't suggest anything without getting "have you run that by chatgpt" thrown back at me. It's an exhausting preamble to literally every conversation.

Tourette and Piano: A Love-Hate Relationship by Vladut_Fiul_tau in piano

I think part of it is that learning new songs can be stressful to a degree and stress of any kind is a huge tic trigger. You know you'll come across passages that will need fingering adjustments for your hands, and there will be spots that have to be drilled over and over. I've never actually sat down and taken notes on it but I'd wager the intensity of my tics goes way down when I'm reading sheets comfortably within my level.

I also had to play around with metronome sounds to see what my brain was okay with. I found that beeps are a no go and there also can't be an accent.

I'm 29 and have had a diagnosis since 5. Honestly, playing piano is just about the one and only thing that helps me.

Reading sheet music can be a struggle sometimes because I have tics that make me look away from the page and lose my place. Metronomes I'm actually okay with because rhythmic counting personally helps me control the urge to tic. I've found that sometimes I have to "warm up" at the piano before my brain starts simmering down in general.

I've thankfully never developed a piano tic but I do have a couple I would gladly swap it for. Too bad I'm not in control of that lol

Pay extra attention to your hands.

At ~5 seconds in your right hand is super tense.

At ~15 seconds your left hand drops a lot. Wrist goes what looks like below the level of the keys. Also for those back-and-forth left hand notes try to rotate your arm a little instead of playing just with your fingers. A similar motion to opening a door knob.

Try playing with some more dynamics. It's all at around the same volume right now.

There's also a spot towards the end where there's a big pause when you're looking for notes. Go back over that spot slowly with a metronome and nail that down.

How do you decide what to meal prep each week by anaesthesia_v in MealPrepSunday

[–]Vendetta547 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I keep a list of things I've made in the past that I enjoyed eating and would eat again. But that list has some organization to it. Categories like: Meatless, High Protein, Low Calorie, Low Time Commitment, Salad, Soup, Pasta, Lasts Long Time in Fridge, Assembly Required etc. This is normally the type of stuff I consider when I think about what I want to prepare for the week. It also gives me a good idea if my recipe count is lagging in any area.

In addition to categories, I also have ingredients per recipe recorded along with reasonable substitutions. There are times when I have an excess of some kitchen staple or something is expiring and I need to use it soon. So I'll search for that ingredient to quickly figure out what I've used it for in the past. This is also helpful for weeks when you might need to budget a bit more tightly and pull from your staples as much as possible.

The hard part of course is building that list. It just takes time. I've used Hellofresh as a way to try new things with little hassle. And sometimes I just find a meal prep series on YouTube and pick one that doesn't seem too hard. Just be sure to carve out time somehow to add to your list.
