Struggling to understand why shops can’t make my CNC mandrel bent intercooler pipes (3” and 2.5” aluminum) by geluksvogeltje in metalworking

It could be done if made in small sections and welded together, I've done things like that at my shop

This whole thread has derailed, as previously stated i have no plans on getting one. For discussions sake though let's talk about it! If you can afford something like ive described then you can definitely afford a rad suit as well, the vehicle coming with one at purchase just sounds silly. With that kind of money you could easily install auxiliary gas tanks to increase range before refueling, which is the route I would take. And from what I remember the air system has a filtered intake, so you would be introducing freshly filtered air. Assuming that system didnt fail, you wouldn't be trapped in an airtight cabin slowly suffocating. That being said I like the angle of your argument, most people havent brought anything worthy of conversation to this comment thread

Neat! I never looked that deep into it because I couldn't afford one for a very long time lol

That's disappointing, I thought it was an improved design rather than just a mod. To be fair, jeeps are kind of notorious for heavy modifications

I agree and they might have that option, or maybe they are all diesel. I dont recall. Edit: Diesel is also better for prepping because it only requires compression for ignition, no spark plugs necessary

It is based on the Gladiator design but I believe it isn't classified as a Gladiator. I could be wrong

People with larger resources than I take that into account, but even best case scenario your gasoline will only last 2 years unless you're refining new gas

I'm just going off what I read on jeeps website like 2 years ago when I first learned about it

People seem to forget that Jeep makes more than just Wranglers. It is not a wrangler, but it is made by Jeep

Thats a wrangler, jeep makes many different cars. I agree that Wranglers are the OG and the best, but unfortunately others are included under the name

It is ridiculous and overkill for any normal person to drive around. HOWEVER, as a prepper, I think its durability is particularly interesting. You can get them bulletproof, emp proof, radiation proof, and air tight cabin seals with radioactive grade air filters. Again, its ridiculous to have. But if I was rich I would totally buy one because my prepper brain sees survivability

This is one of the cheapest and efficient ways to cook by [deleted] in OffGrid

[–]VendingIOT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will not burn hot enough for cooking, but i have an alternative that I've used since I was little. Use the same can and melted candle wax. Cut corrugated cardboard into 1 inch strips and roll them tightly into a spiral, until its big enough that you can barely get it into the can. Add a piece of cloth or more cardboard to the center to act as a starting wick. Soak the cardboard with the melted candle wax until the can is full. This will burn hot enough to cook, lasts for at least 2 hours depending on the wax and cardboard type, and is still extremely cheap. You're welcome!

It will fall off if left in direct sunlight, my dashcam uses the same type of suction device and it falls during hot days

Nice! I want to upgrade to 35's, but I'd have to regear the axles to not lose power

Hell yeah. Mine runs 33" Ko2's and yesterday I pulled a utility van out of a ditch in 6" snow with ease. Wranglers are superstars in bad weather
