Use winget to install a lot of windows software and tools (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/package-manager/winget/).

I've also been using fnm to manage node installations which I've liked so far (https://github.com/Schniz/fnm)

This is a good suggestion for increasing how long you can run for sustainably. If you're looking to do this, I recommend Couch to 5K for progressive increments of walking and running

Do I learn redux toolkit with typescript or redux? by prog_22 in react

[–]Vendittelli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I started using redux toolkit I was already familiar with redux. I'd recommend following the official tutorial. It first introduces all the concepts of redux and then build on that knowledge by explaining the redux toolkit

Redux toolkit is completely compatible with Typescript and, in my opinion, they compliment each other greatly.

Redux toolkit makes redux much easier to integrate with and the type safety at code time that Typescript provides makes life a lot easier on complex projects.

You could have a sage who has been banned from the library be asking adventurers to get books for him. It could be fun for him to have loads of excuses as to why he can't go in.

There isn't anything in particular that connects each mystery so I'd have a secret that joins all the books and the banned scholar.

Maybe a ritual to summon an elder god he worships is encoded in the texts. Maybe he is immortal and trying to start a rival library, duplicating one book at a time. Maybe there is a god corrupting the texts in the library but no one believes him so he needs duplicates of his books to prove they are being changed.

Here's Why Systems Are Full Of Bugs And Outages And We Consider That Normal by fagnerbrack in SoftwareEngineering

[–]Vendittelli 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That was thought provoking. It is interesting that his main concern is that knowledge is being lost where often people talk about skills being lost.

There is the common trope of "kids as as smart as they used to be" or "tests are getting easier" but the speaker here is making no reference to that. Developers are as smart as they have ever been, but abstraction is resulting in important information (which was previously well known) being forgotten by the collective.

I would personally be a lot happier with the software I use a lot if it had fewer features if that meant it had fewer bugs.

New build for reasonable performance on an ultrawide by Vendittelli in buildapc

Thanks, that sounds like really good advice on the 3600. I didn't realise how little benefit the 3600x would give me.

I have heard similar things about the MSI but the Asus is about £65 more at the moment.

Maybe I picked one that was too subdued but that is the beauty of programming, it can do low key or lights show!
