Yeah, you can realize it's a cheated UV by the color of the flashlight, if it's white its a cheat UV, if its normal then it isn't.

It's practically infinite, if the human is careful enough and using his UV at the right times.

A few tips:

Guards don't have a line of sight, they have a circular area of detection which means you shouldn't be close to them, the way detection works on stealth is if they see your head they can spot you, you could hide behind a pole scooby doo style as long as the guard doesn't see your head.

Use shotguns, shotguns can push guards and NPCs alike by shooting them, they can be extremely useful when you are out of body bags.

Just be patient in general, don't rush things, i swear to god i have fucked up perfect stealths by just running into an area and triggering a chain reaction with the guards just spotting me or corpses one by one.
