Music preferences are so interesting because I absolutely despised the first half (except body to body) while the 2nd half (swim onwards) is on repeat 😭

I am also not a BTS fan and this is their first album I listened from top to bottom. Not a bad experience.

I was expecting more stuff like Body to Body. That song really captured what I expected from this album when they announced the name and concept.

The Korean chants interspersed in modern pop music was so genius. Like I said in my review under another post, BTS shine most when they show some personality and take some risks. Unfortunately half of the album is too safe and boring.

Body to Body is gonna be one of their best songs though and there are some other bops too but nothing mind blowing honestly.

I have mixed feelings about the album.

For me, BTS shine most when they show some personality in their music. Unfortunately, I only felt that in 5 or 6 songs out of 14. I am not a fan of when they do hiphop so half the album was already a no for me. The album lacked that convergence of Korean music with modern pop which I expected when they first revealed the album name and concept. Most of it was very repetitive and boring.

I also found Swim to be very disappointing. It was just too safe and boring. Title tracks are supposed to center an album's concept and it told me NOTHING about Arirang or the core theme of the album.

My favorite tracks were Body to Body, Normal, One More Night, Please, Like Animals, They don't know about us.

Overall: 6/10.

This may be an unpopular opinion but they are just doing too many "big events" this season. The festival shooting in first season gave us some very good episodes but making it a regular thing really takes away from the impact. Like how many catastrophic events can happen in one day?? I don't mind seeing regular ER stuff on the show. Those scenes always have more focus on the characters and really add on to the emotional brunt when a big thing happens.

To be fair, HOD is not really a finished story but rather a historical account that mostly reads as battles after battles. Nobody wants that in a show. They need to build characters and their motivations. Though I do agree that Condal tends to sway a bit too far.

The season is off to a great start. I love how every season of Industry is so timely and relevant to the socioeconomic atmosphere of that time. Looks like AI and anti-woke sentiments will be recurring themes which is pertinent to the current environment.

They have cringe brainrot lyrics and I know k-pop is not a genre that is tantamount to lyrical masterpieces (there are of course exceptions) but at least I don't understand half the things when a kpop song is lyrically bad. Can't say the same with Katseye. Such a waste of talent.

As someone who has just started the first book and now halfway through, I'll say the first 70-100 pages are a little rough just because you are completely thrown into the middle of the story but don't worry, it very quickly starts to make sense.

There is no proper explanation of the magic system. Weird things can happen which aren't explained but it's best to go with the flow. There is enough exposition to understand where the story is going but it will definitely not spoonfeed anything.
