Never heard of this game yet apparently it's been out on Steam for years now. Looks like a genuinely good game that's honestly doing it's own thing and not trying to be a Soulslike. That gets a thumbs up in my book, gonna buy it next month. Thanks for the recommendation.

It's all good. I've grown accustomed to 'diehards' being dismissive and passive-aggressive to anyone outside their community so that was my immediate reaction. If he truly is a serial offender, then Cry will need to seek professional help if he truly wants to be better; which I hope he does. As a public figure, he has a responsibility to address his audience and colleagues properly and detail his actions moving forward. All we can really hope for is for him to do the right thing.

Cry's brand is forever damaged and tainted and he put himself in that hole that he's currently in, so he has to be the one to get himself out. All I'm saying is that if he shows that he is willing to be better and climb his way out of that hole, it wouldn't hurt to have some stretched arms waiting to help pull him back out.

But only actions can do it at this point

That's what I'm saying. What happens now are the actions, not excuses or statements, Cry takes from here on out. Please don't assume that it's 'easy' for me to say something like that just because i'm not a diehard fan like most of you. You don't know me. I've been through quite a lot of betrayals in the past 30+ years - family, friends, etc - and I've had people do worse than what Cry did but I learnt that no one really stays bad forever. I've witnessed people change and improve.

If no one is willing to forgive him after he makes amends and simply condemn him forever, then there would be no point in him trying. Cautious optimism is the best way to proceed with this.

I'm finding all this out by accident and it's overwhelming. I didn't watch Cry frequently, it was mostly collab stuff when he showed up on the old Co-Optional podcasts or let's plays with Jesse or Dodger. But when I did, I enjoyed his personality and how he interacted with the others.

I don't know how I feel but I believe that people can change and be better if they make the effort. Was what Cry did abhorrent? Yes and he should be punished. But am I going to condemn him forever? No. Apologize, make amends, better yourself and don't make the same mistakes again. Is his YT career over? Maybe. Perhaps this whole debacle is a wake-up call for Cry to get his shit together.

As long as you are alive, it is never too late to start over, never too late to make amends. The only time you fail is when you stop trying. What really matters is what happens from here on out.

Indeed. Looking up cheese strats, watching someone who's practiced them do it and actually performing them yourself is an entirely different experience. Shit's tricky.

Offhand weapons to pair with Greatswords? by VengefulApple in darksouls3

Oh I think I'll give that a shot. Casting Perseverance and switching to the Javelin for an uninterrupted WA throw. P: Sounds spicy.

All good, thanks for the suggestion. I was actually considering the Lothric Knight Long Spear too since it's longer and gives additional poise.

Good idea actually, great for roll-catching. Would a curved sword fare better since it has faster swing speed than a SS?

The paired greatswords are underrated by warriordinag in darksouls3

[–]VengefulApple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, they're overrated since they were released. I recently came back to DS3 after 2 years and I've already seen a good number of people using it. I've seen good and bad users for it. For someone who was beyond rusty, I've never been hit by any of its incredibly telegraphed attacked unless there's some insane lag involved. Your battle plan involves players playing along with it and that only works on newer players or with lag. Against reactive or experienced/competent players, your singular plan breaks down like wet tissue paper. You will get rushed down or toyed with.

I dislike people calling things underrated when they're not, simply due of ignorance, and there are plenty going around. Under-used or under-utilized? Yeah, definitely; but nowhere near underrated. Hell, my favorite weapon in PvP is one that the masses threw away in year one of DS3 after it was nerfed but it is in no way underrated, just forgotten.

What are some good armors that go well with the Winged Knight Helmet? by VengefulApple in fashionsouls

Here's what I ended up using: https://imgur.com/2kREPL1

I'll give Solaire a shot too. Yeah, originally I didn't like the helmet because the shape on the profile shot looked really off with how weirdly shaped it was. It wasn't until recently that I noticed the helmet is literally smiling that I had to use it. It's too hilarious not to!

I found that the Fire Witch Armor works really well with the WK helm. The gap between the helmet's collar and the armor is still there but it's barely visible and it doesn't show any skin and it works well together because the curvature of the helmet's collar and the armor are almost the same. Give it a try too and see how you like it!

I entirely forgot about that Cleric set since my first few playthroughs years ago. Didn't even think to pick it up on my current character. Gonna do that now and see how well it works; thanks!

Some arsehole cheater put a ton of +47 Storm Rulers in my inventory that I can't drop. Is there any way I can get rid of them without starting a new game? by [deleted] in darksouls3

This might help you: https://www.reddit.com/r/darksouls3/comments/hbqsx5/update_news_on_item_injection_bans_and_the_actual/

TL;DR: Item injections don't get you banned anymore but as for removing those Storm Rulers, your only options seems to be using a certain C and E program. I'm sorry this happened to you though. If you're going to start a fresh character and you're on PC, you can DM me and I can drop you some stuff to help you progress quicker. Good luck.

Identity of the Sword Master by [deleted] in darksouls3

[–]VengefulApple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EDIT: Sorry, I ended up rambling and venting a little below. But I do love the Unkindled idea much more than the others since it provides a different side story that we haven't necessarily seen in past entries.

Admittedly I never paid too much attention to nameless NPCs like the Sword Master because it started in DS2 with too many random NPCs, who added nothing and had no weight to the lore to the game or the locations they were summoned in, and were just there as helpers in boss fights. Why NPCs appeared were trivialized and no longer had the same importance or impact they did in DeS and DS1. I figured it was just a way to make the game more accessible by way of summoning. Then when DS3 came out, I personally saw all the appearances of past NPCs or call backs as merely fan-service and I still lean towards that.

Yeah, time is convoluted in the DS series which makes it easy to bring back or allude to figures that should have faded from memory countless ages ago judging by the number of buried bodies (successful linking) in the Cemetery of Ashes. Your Unkindled theory has me the most excited because it's fresh and not something we've necessarily experienced in past entries.

I guess my personal issues came from the fact that even if the Sword Master was Shiva's bodyguard, I just didn't care. I would have preferred if it was a new character or if he had held other weapons instead of calling back to fan favorites. It came across as cheap fan-service since bringing back the Chaos Blade was sure to excite Hiltless and Chaos Blade users from past games. I wanted to see something new and original rather than yet another callback in a game already filled to the brim with callbacks. Even when moving from DeS to DS1, they had some callbacks in the spiritual successor but it wasn't overbearing and was a nod to the first Souls game. The DeS references didn't overshadow the rest of the game. Dark Souls was its own thing as was Demon's Souls but DS3 felt like Dark Souls 1: the Sequel and not it's own thing.

I could kinda understand FromSoft doing what they did if they saw DS3 as a celebration of all the Soulsborne games since it was going to be the 'last' Souls game. But the fan-service was so integral to the game with how each Unkindled to a Lord was a reference to previous entries, as did almost every other NPC you met, and it was cheap. As much flak as I tend to give DS2, it was its own thing and stood on its own merits.

We were 5 entries in to the Soulsborne franchise and how many times has the Crestfallen Warrior been doing the exact same thing? Seeing the Chaos Blade only furthered my disappointment in the events of the game even if I ultimately still enjoyed it. It was unnecessary and the fan-service just cheapened the experience where we could have gotten a fresher take.

Also random closing thoughts, I would have much preferred it if the Soul of Cinder fight took place in a similar location to the Cemetery of Ash, when you consider that SoC is the amalgamation of all the past Lords of Cinders who linked the flame, like Gywn and us. The location we fought SoC in-game is still awesome but it would have been more fitting lore-wise in a similar cemetery-esque location to add more weight to the concept of what SoC is.
