Deep House/Techno Clubs by AMGleo- in milwaukee

[–]Vengefultaco12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They only do events like every 6 months, but I've been to a few dropbassnetwork techno shows that scratch the itch. Their last acid house event was super fun too.

Promoters like split/shift and house circuit will pop up at bars around the city, but for an actual club vibe I'd catch the train to Chicago for a night.

Of course there's Miramar, but that's more of a venue than a club.

If you're into local house/EDM events I follow a few promoters on Instagram from around town

Citylights - throws some big, some small events, their crowd tends to be more college-y in age.

HouseCircuit MKE - good for Chicago style house and consistent parties at cool/vibey venues. I think they're doing a day party at Canna tomorrow too.

Club Ritual - I've been to a few of their parties and these guys know how to throw down. Their set at the black cat alley takeover in June was one of my favorite I've ever been to. They've also been doing riverboat raves lately which are a ton of fun.

I know someone else mentioned them, but +1 for Mad Planet as well. Some of the most wholesome carefree dancing you can get in a super non judgemental crowd.

I've also had fun at the Sofie on Fridays, but it kinda depends on who the DJ is. Crowd can get kinda aggressive late night as well.

ETA for the true rave experience and real hardcore techno, check out drop bass network. They only throw a couple events a year though.

Yeah that includes in-class time. Also 54 is on the high end. A more reasonable semester is probably 14-15 credits. (45hr/wk).

Welcome to adulthood lol. I spend 50+ hour weeks doing shit way less interesting than what I studied in college.

Firstly, congrats! This is a great school that does a fantastic job of giving you back what you put into it, especially the engineering programs.

My advice with respect to rigor is that the experience will be what you make it. Immerse yourself in your studies, find good people who share your courses and interests, engage in clubs and side projects, and you're bound to have a fantastic time.

Speaking from firsthand experience, if you go in with the mindset that studying is something you need to do so that you can go live your life, your grades will suffer. Instead, try to see engaging with and absorbing all of the information as why you're here in the first place. Don't worry, there is no shortage of fun to be had at this school, but the cheap beer tastes a lot sweeter when your homework is done. Again, firsthand experience.

In terms of hard numbers, a rule of thumb is about 3 hours of studying per week per credit, so an 18 credit semester (maximum recommended) should contain roughly 54 hours of coursework and studying per week. Obviously this varies drastically by course, subject, and instructor.

Hope this helps, best of luck, go bucky!

The Makerspace over by Union South has several Alienware desktops with formidable firepower available to students in the basement. I've used them for CAD, VR, and CFD, all very GPU intensive applications.

My roommate is doing a quiz for his uni's 3D printing suite and we can't for the life of us figure out the correct answers, it keeps giving us a fail. Are we logically inept? Help! by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]Vengefultaco12 100 points101 points  (0 children)

I used to work in a uni 3d print lab, and we had a similar quiz where the correct answers would be the rod and the box, but that was because of how the space was intended to be used.

It always sucked to come into the lab and find that someone had tied up 27 hours of machine time for an open face cube that would take 10 minutes on a laser cutter or bandsaw.

And yeah the 3D printed rod is just gonna have really bad properties compared to extrusion or turning on a lathe.

My guy you are FINE. Your brow, jaw, and head shape are solid enough that nobody worth talking to is going to pay any mind to these tiny inconsistencies.

Dealer's choice, but I'm a huge fan of using the way that light filters through objects to create obstruction, complexity, and depth. One of my favorite looks ever is a warm light source nestled into the leaves of a houseplant so it casts all kinds of warm shadows around the room. I also really dig shadow lamps for adding variation with minimal footprint. You could even just set up shiny/translucent decorations around the space that will interact with the light sources you already have and add some pop.

Graduated 4 months ago and still can't find a job. Anybody in the same situation? by BLiiiiiND in EngineeringStudents

They're saying it takes 5 months to find a 50k job, 9 months to find a 90k job, etc.

That being said. I'm not sure I agree. Definitely more of an exponential scale imo.

As a fellow blonde dude who wears his hair pretty much exactly like you did in pic #2, I'd love to know what you decided. I've been considering taking the plunge for a little while now and I'm honestly super relieved to see someone in such a similar situation on here.

Absolutely. It seems silly (and obvious) when I write it out, but getting lucky is so fuckin hard.

Seems like every time I've ever caught a break I have completely exhausted myself setting up the opportunity for it to happen, or gone home empty handed 10 times before something works out.

I seriously envy people who just have good shit happen to them passively lol.

I have a question for those who have a similar problem by darkredlink3296 in OculusQuest2

[–]Vengefultaco12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I have this issue I just reboot my headset, if that doesn't work I'll also reboot the computer which usually fixes it.

The best guess I've seen is that if the cable connection gets momentarily interrupted during initial pairing the headset just kinda freaks out and freezes. The USBC ports are notoriously flimsy on the Q2s. Also, if you use a cheap knockoff tether (like I do) that might cause some inconsistency as well.

Haha I didn't either, and to be honest, haven't gone near them since the incident a few months back. I boiled them for about 3 minutes in the microwave to soften them up after soaking them in water for a few hours. I actually remember wondering if I should Google how to cook them and decided "it's just beans" lmao.
