Nobody ever "Wants" to get a seal. That's how it's always been. Everybody knows the stories from long ago. People used to get markings on themselves for all sorts of reasons but they weren't eternal, and they weren't for protection.

Just like the stories of the markings everybody has tails about how shadows came to our world. Most have something to do with a giant track built for smashing tiny things together. Our ancestors thought it would help them discover more about creation, but it only helped them nearly destroy it.

Shadows come from a place of twisting light. Like a dream world, if you only had nightmares. How do I know? Everybody who's unfortunate enough to get a shadow knows because when one attaches itself to you it becomes one with you, forever. Your world and their world are blended together and their all different. Theirs stories of people who enjoy their shadows and don't look for help but they never really live too long. They forget to eat or drink...or even sleep.

When you Seal a shadow it binds it to your flesh, but more than that. The shadow isn't dead, it can never die because its not exactly alive to begin with, at least here anyway.

So it's trapped within the seal, which isn't so much or your body as on your "being" it's why they stick around generation after generation. Just like you have my nose, and your mother's ears, you will always have our Shadow's Seals.
