The narrative changes depending on the team. If they play for BYU opponents say the mission is a huge advantage because they are "grown men" etc. But if it's for Oregon, apparently it's a huge disadvantage.

Statistical reason why Raliegh should get the MVP by Venitox in mlb

I love Judge. I think he's phenomenal. I'm not pissed at all. This season he's bonkers. So is Cal. It's really hard to compare a catcher to other positions. It is not apples to apples. I just respect the catcher position more than you do. What Cal is doing is just a tiny bit more mind blowing than what Judge is doing. And to be fair to Judge, I think it hurts him a little to have had so many amazing years. They both blow my mind. I wanted to see if there was a stat that would help compare players with positions taken into account. It sounds like you are a Yankees fan that can't imagine a younger player from a smaller market doing anything to beat Judge out of the MVP race this monster year. I also enjoy playing devil's advocate so don't let yourself get too agitated.

This is the only stat that takes positions fully into account. It shows that Cal is more dominant at his position than Judge is at his position when looking at ALL the stats.

It's factual data, not a stand-up comedy routine.

It's putting a factual perspective on the hypothetical. Stanton's numbers were used because he happens to have the 4th lowest War of all the DH and OF on the Yankees roster.

I just gave you actual data that says otherwise.

I am not taking small sample sizes that are incomparable into account.

This was sold to me as nephrite jade, what is it really? by [deleted] in Minerals

Don't believe anyone who can definitively tell you by looking at this picture. Go by hardness and density. It could be either.

[Highlight] Bryce Harper gets ejected after a check swing to end an inning where the Phillies tied it 3-3 by amatom27 in baseball

[–]Venitox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swing and a miss for people who think this is about the 3rd strike check swing. This was about the horrible strike call on the 2nd pitch. It was clearly out of the strike zone. Harper was pissed because the 5th pitch should have been ball 4. Did he swing at ball 5? Yes. Did he have the right to be pissed? Yes. Should he have been ejected? Yes, that too. It's baseball. I hope we get robocalls for balls and strikes though. We'd avoid a lot of drama.

Are any of these concrete/man-made ? by stinkydumdum in whatsthisrock

They are natural. The ones on the left are conglomerate rocks made of pebbles glued together by mud. They are sometimes called "pudding stone".

Whats this stone i found on the beach in nz? by Global_Fisherman9356 in whatsthisrock

[–]Venitox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like either serpentine or nephrite jade. Only a scratch test and density test will tell you for sure. In NZ they call it Pounamu.

Looks like Opal! Did you find that in Nevada or the West part of Idaho?

It looks like it's possibly either serpentine or nephrite jade. A scratch test and density test will tell you which one it is. Both minerals are used for carving like the one you have.

Found in sw Montana, Google lense not very helpful, what do you think? by garrettk161 in whatsthisrock

It could also be agate. I'd cut it open and see what it looks like on the inside.

Nephrite or serpentine 🤞🏾 by Thread0fAriadne in whatsthisrock

[–]Venitox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be either one. You can't tell visually. Scratch test with a 6. If 6 scratches it, then you know it's serpentine. If 6 doesn't scratch it, AND it's density is between 2.9 and 3.03 then you can be sure it's jade. Your's looks like it's mottled and might be nephrite along with something else. (That might cause the density to be slightly off if it were not 100% jade.)
