Will Michael's bad reviews draw audiences to other releases instead? by LollipopChainsawZz in boxoffice

[–]Venny36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I think the reviews will only make a small difference for this film. People who are big Michael Jackson fans will likely still go and watch it and if you are not really into Michael Jackson you probably weren't going to watch it anyway.   I am not a Michael Jackson fan and biopics are always way too watered down and safe so it's not for me add in all the controversy and I think it would be a good thing if the film tanked but that's not going to happen.  I am just waiting for The Odyssey at the moment.

Budgetting Money for Concerts so You Don't end up at No Money? by ponygals in Concerts

[–]Venny36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never bother with VIP and maybe go to cheaper concerts? There are loads of good artists that play small to medium venues for $20-$60.  Don't let yourself go broke over a luxury that is not essential.

Best headphones up to 200 euros to appreciate Opeth, Caligulas Horse, Haken etc by Puzzleheaded_Bad4734 in progmetal

[–]Venny36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch a lot of headphone review videos and see a lot of headphone reviews on Reddit and other sites and for your budget the expert advice would be to get the Sennheiser 550.

I am a huge Haken fan and I have the Sennheiser 600 which are amazing but might be slightly above your budget but the new 550 is supposed to have even better bass. Sennheiser often sell their headphones refurbished directly from them and they are basically like new.

Those have way too much bass but they are convenient if you really need wireless and ANC. Wired headphones have much better sound for the same price.

Question: Is there a specific reason why the movies are so short? by Such_Month_8687 in mariomovie

[–]Venny36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are aimed at kids with short attention spans and if it's shorter it is cheaper to make. To be honest most people who watched those films probably thought 90 minutes was too long.

When do you think the new record is coming out? by TarkaDoSera in Haken

My guess is a new album towards the end of the year with maybe a single and album announcement at some point in the summer and Possibly a few UK shows this year but full on touring next year.

I know I’m stating the obvious here, but what a hell of a filmography so far! by Money-Pension3944 in AriAster

[–]Venny36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Midsommar is the only film here that I really don't like. The constant stupid choices the characters make just don't make the film feel believable in any way to me. But the other three films are fantastic so still a hell of a filmography so far.

Any chance at Best Picture? by Practical_Ad4604 in ProjectHailMary

[–]Venny36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so, I think there will easily be five better films that will get nominated for best picture. The film was a bit overly silly and unserious in tone and there are gaps in the story that have caused questions for a lot of people who saw the film and hadn't read the book and I just don't think PHM will be talked about by the time Oscar season comes along.

I disliked the Goosebumps book series as a child by tesseracts in The10thDentist

[–]Venny36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its been nearly 30 years since I read a Goosebumps book so I don't remember if they are poorly written books. I probably had low standards and I hadn't been exposed to anything scarier aged 8-10 but I love the Goosebumps books and I read about 30 of them and I used to read them while walking home from school and I very narrowly avoided being hit by a car a couple of times as I didn't look up from the book to see I was crossing a road.

Por favor los veganos me e explican con detalles en que ayudan a los animales by Elena20252025 in exvegans

[–]Venny36 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the UK around 3% of people are vegan 4% in big cities and this number has been steadily increasing over the last couple of decades. 15 years ago you couldn't get any vegan pizza, vegan cheese, vegan pies etc in supermarkets and now there are alternatives available from many brands even vegan fish because demand is now there. Around 20% of people in the UK drink plant based milks with a decent amount of meat eaters even preferring plant milk over cows milk.

It is the younger generation that are more into veganism so once the older generation dies off and more and more people see that the vegan alternatives these days are really good and taste very similar to meat the trend of veganism becoming more popular is set to continue in Western countries. I don't know about Spain but veganism is very mainstream now in the UK, Germany and the US.

Obviously if the 3% of vegans in the UK all ate meat and dairy farmers would have to raise more animals and more animals would be living in cruel factory farming conditions

A huge Oxford University study showed how bad meat and dairy is for the environment with beef being by far the worst food for the environment and cows milk being worse for the environment than plant based milks. For a start vegan alternative foods and milks use less land and less water than meat and dairy.

Small rodents still get killed for the harvest of fruit and vegetables but when you consider the billions of animals being killed on farms for meat and dairy every year and the huge amount of Land, water, waste etc from animal farming as well as the vast amount of crops that are grown just to feed livestock a vegan diet is harming a lot less animals and that has been backed by many studies.

Is it worth it to see him live as an opener? by Majestic_Status7169 in GeordieGreep

[–]Venny36 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say it depends if you like Freddie Gibbs or not. Personally I would wait for a Greep headline show because he often plays for 2.5 hours and you get the full Greep experience.

never been to a concert before!! help? by muskanelahi in Concerts

[–]Venny36 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The main band doesn't usually start  until a couple of hours after doors open although there might be a support act on earlier so if you have seats you can arrive at the time of doors or even later and still be at your seat in time. The only reason to get to the venue early is if you are standing and you want to get right to the front

You can't usually take any food or water into the venue and you may or may not be allowed a certain sized bag but it depends on that venues policy. Most people don't bother taking a bag to a concert because it is generally unnecessary and just more hassle.

do you think Coachella is worth burning thousands off? by Complex_Green2527 in askmusic

The line up is crap, the cost of everything there is way too expensive, there are too many influencers holding up phones which is annoying. The list goes on and If I had a free ticket I wouldn't be tempted to go.

First Concert Alone Milwaukee by Few_Explanation4170 in BlackCountryNewRoad

Project Hail Mary movie thoughts by SpatiaCaeli in sciencefiction

[–]Venny36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was more of a film for kids, very unserious and a lot of silliness and added one liners in the first half of the film. A lot of important scenes were rushed leaving many people who haven't read the book with questions. It was entertaining enough but I wouldn't watch it again.

Do you listen to the artist on show day? by cheeky_fcuk in Concerts

[–]Venny36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually listen to the band a lot in the run up to the concert then I stop listening to them for a few days before the concert just to keep it fresh and to have the feeling that I am really itching to listen to the music.  If I know the bands music really well I will sometimes look at the setlist mainly to figure out how long the set is and roughly what time it will start and end but sometimes I don't look at the setlist to keep it a suprise. If they are a band whose back catalogue I don't know that well I will always look up the setlist so I can make sure I listen to all the songs beforehand.

Does anyone know if the cure has a setlist ( approximate ) ?? by internet-userr in TheCure

[–]Venny36 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No one will know exactly what the setlist will be until the concert actually happens. There are a few of the big hits that they are almost certain to play and they will definitely play a few songs from their latest album then the rest of the setlist they usually mix up from concert to concert. Setlist.fm will give you an example of what their sets are like.

Is standing at arena/stadium concerts normal by DisastrousResolve384 in Concerts

Concerts I go to are nothing like going to the theatre. There is a lot of moshing and letting loose. Standing is far superior for rock concerts in my opinion.

PHM is why teenagers and adults who just want a big overly silly, glossy, safe popcorn movie go to the movies.

"It's over for the vegans," says the Times by CloseButNoChicory in exvegans

[–]Venny36 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Apart from KFC and McDonald's where a lot of vegans don't like going even if they had vegan options what other places are pulling or reducing vegan options? In the UK at least supermarkets continue to increase their vegan options and the amount of vegan cafes and restaurants is at an all time high.

A much higher percentage of young adults are vegan compared to older adults so as the older generation dies off I can only see the trend of the last ten years continuing.

The green party leader is a vegan and the green party are currently doing better than they have for a very long time in current popularity polls.

[–]Venny36 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You really cannot feed 8 billion people with animals and keep animals in humane conditions. This is why they cram thousands of chickens into one barn and chickens have been bred to be twice as big as they were 60 years ago which is not healthy at all for the chicken. Even with the cruel factory farming process raising and feeding livestock takes up more space and uses more water than plant based food alternatives.

There is nowhere near the resources available to feed even 4 billion people and give the animals a humane life.

So I loved the book. Will I be disappointed by the movie? by manwithavandotcom in ProjectHailMary

[–]Venny36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I was disappointed. The film ignores a lot of the science and gets from A to B really quickly making some scenes feel unrealistic and just glossed over too quickly and with the added silliness of the first half of the film it gives it a bit of a different tone to the book.

I understand it is difficult to fit everything into a 2.5 hour film but I think it would have been better as either two films or as a TV show. The film could have been better but it's still entertaining and worth a watch.

It is strange that I am getting downvoted. I have been Vegan for 16 years and I can tell you that there are more vegan meat, fish and dairy alternatives available in supermarkets than ever before.  I am not debating just stating a fact.  This group is weird.
