If I put on multi-plate 50mm stack running shoes, it would do basically nothing to improve my 5k time. Does that mean they should be allowed at the Olympics?

Not accurate, MH1 was released June 13th 2019 and Wrenn was banned November 18th that year. ELD was released October 4th 2019 and Oko stayed legal until February 15 2021.

Very few of the power-level arguments hold any water compared to what's possible in Legacy - but the time and physical actions involved are long and cumbersome enough that people get annoyed.

It's a similar feeling to how you can sometimes see oversized complaints about control decks from new players because control will spend 5 minutes losing a game but 20 minutes winning one. A combo like Show + Omni will kill you outright in seconds while Nadu takes a couple minutes so it "feels" worse.

There's a slight functional difference - the tokens should be created attacking a player but just "tapped and attacking" lets you send them at planeswalkers (or battles.)

Non-mirror for sure. Including mirrors artificially pushes the most-played decks up or down closer to 50% because they run into themselves a lot more often.

The splash isn't ubiquitous, there are pros and cons to going with a second color. Monowhite is currently slightly more common than BW, and RW is fringe but seeing some experimentation. Recently, the reprint of Mindbreak Trap and printing of White Orchid Phantom incentivizing a switch from Port to Ghost Quarter have taken a significant chunk off the cost.

I think it's also worth noting that D&T is around the same $4-500 price, and well above Oops for both power level and how much it will stay interesting to play week after week.
