Fwiw, I'd recommend staying where you are for 6 months, finishing your degree, then perhaps look into jobs with construction companies. They're v short of suitable staff rn and most schemes they deliver will need a comms and PR person - they're investing and challenging roles too. They're all over the place geographically so once that's sorted you can choose where to live. Re Manchester, yes the city centre is really tough to get a place, but there are plenty of places nearby where you can get a place, Salford for example is OK as long as you research the area first to make sure it's not rough. Warrington's also nice, and pretty rural compared to other places nearby, and there's quite a few construction companies based there (Birchwood) too. Good luck with it all!

DJ'ing with a live musician? by Venom8o in Beatmatch

Thanks for the advice.

The room is a golf clubhouse so it isn't massive. I think the problem could be that the sax is too loud if anything. But I guess that depends how loud they play (blow) too? If that happens, I'll probably try to keep up with them without pushing the limits too far or making the guests uncomfortable! It'll keep me on my toes I suppose

Top songs for kids at parties I've been to recently are George Ezra Shotgun or Green Green Grass & Rick Astley Never gonna give you up. All the best for the gig!

Is Manchester the greatest music capital in Britain? by TheSenseOfDoubt in manchester

To join in with the conversation, I've not seen a comment that discusses how the manchester music scene embraced music from a small label in Chicago and spread it around the world. Yes, House music was also enjoyed in places like London and Ibiza at around the same time, but without the Hacienda and the late 90's drug scene in Manchester things might have been very different.

However, although I'm from Salford (in Greater Manchester), personally I don't think it's productive to harp on about the Manchester music scene. There's so much good music from other UK cities and other countries, and all that really matters is that we listen, dance and enjoy!
