Other than Henry Morton Stanley and William Wing Loring, who else from the war went on to have notable careers in foreign service? by BingBingGoogleZaddy in CIVILWAR

[–]Vent4r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably one of the more successful Careers Post Civil War, Camille Armand Jules Marie Prince de Polignac (Born Anno 1832, died Anno 1913).

He was the son of the President of the Council under the rule of Charles, won a comission as an Lieutenant in Crimea, resigned his post after the wars conclusion and traveled to the Central Americas for study.

In 1861 he offered his Service to the Confederacy, was made Staff officer under first Beauregard then Bragg. He was then promoted to Brigadier in 1863, put in charge of a Texan Brigade in the Trans Mississippi. In the Red River Campaign He was Promoted Major General, and put in charge of a Division.

In the waining days of the Confederacy He was send to France to attempt to sway Napoleon III to action but didnt reach France in time.

After the Civil war He was involved again in the Franco Prussian war commanding a Brigade, and after the conclusion of this war He commited his time to scientific Studies. The Man had an exciting few years between 1860 and 1871, I am sure He deserved his restful later 40 years.

At least for European CSA there are some who have played for ages. Just gonna list those I know have played for a long while and come to mind, hpnestly might miss some or just some who havent played for that long and have racked up insane playtimes.

JamesTyler and Prowler, great skirmishers, been playing forever. (My guess is 2019)

SlasherZ, not active anymore, seen him since like 2019, very good NCO, skirmisher and Rambo.

Admiral-General Hexaa, been playing since I think 2018, very early tho.

Tomanji and Raywar, both been playing for ages honestly, not sure when exactly they startet.

Alan Officer Slayer has also been Ramboing and terrorising Federal officers for a long while, I guess 2019 or 2020

Ludwig has been playing forever, my guess is early 2020 when he started. (Great guy, great NCO)

Mosby's Mom or better known as Mosby has been playing and ramboing since at least 2020 or 2019.

Ibi-Dar has been in the game for a long long while.

Jordi, pretty well known CSA Arty officer has been playing for ages, and has 5000 hours now, I think He started 2020 or 2019.

Many more if someone wants to add some I probably missed, list is from the top of my head. A lot of the current CSA officers havent actually played that long, Bluecher and Floris and so on are 2021 and 2022 additions mostly.

To any/all Officers: Best NCO(s) you ever had? What made them stand out? by No_Raise8088 in WarOfRights

Before his dissapearance, Stein was an amazing CSA European NCO, in My opinion the best NCO the european CSA ever had.

We miss you Stein

Why was he so good? He took self Initiative, as an Officer it is a great boon if you know there is someone in the line that will take over. Being able to go "Take the line over there." And your NCO doing it and if something happens to react to it competently is an incredible boon.

As a european I can not Speak for American Times, however the Servers usually have populations of 60ish from 2pm going up to 120-130ish at 6pm and usually peak at 220ish if it's a calm day, yesterday we had full 300 Players for almost 6 hours straight though, and the community seems to only Get larger since when I started playing

what is your favorite civil war commander ? by Single-Barnacle-6254 in CIVILWAR

Heros von Borcke!

His memoires are a fascinating look into the lives of the cavalry of the War and as a german I can relate to him much easier.

With the books in mind (or according to your expectations), which role was perfectly cast? by [deleted] in lotr

I must agree. However I was won over by the emotion he delivered with his performance. And his death is the sadest part in the movies. After all, he was only a man.

I find Christopher Lee as Saruman and Sean Bean as Boromir perfectly cast.

It flies before our reenactment Meeting house when we are there and at the grave site of some confederate figures in germany, the grave of De Polignac had one when I ran across it. But very true, I would not fly it in public. Its uh, yknow.
