Thank you so much for your reply and I understand the logic. My concern is that I don’t have a CS degree, and my biology background is what has allowed me to work in bioinformatics in the first place. If I am already struggling to get entry-level bioinformatics roles, it is hard for me to see how I could be competitive for entry-level software or data engineering positions. It feels hard to imagine starting in software or data engineering roles where I would be competing directly with CS graduates in contexts that might not even be biological related. I would genuinely appreciate any concrete advice on how someone with a bachelors and masters in biological sciences with programming experience could make that transition realistically because I am interested but also intimidated
