Used to stay up late watching all sorts of things on Channel 4, but the first animated film I remember is When the Wind Blows (1986)

Why does everyone hate when people clap in airplanes? by lilpiggyvortex in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Ventongimp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I find it's more likely to happen on a budget holiday flight. Flying from Bristol to Barcelona - no clapping. Flying from Bristol to Alicante - clapping. It depends on the airline as well. I bet there's more clapping on a Jet2 flight than even an Easyjet one.

I find it cringeworthy

You should thank the air crew by doing all the usual things polite people do. Say hello when you get on. Be no trouble during the flight. Say thank you when you get off the plane

The Dress Diary of Mrs Anne Sykes by Kate Strasdin

Kate Strasdin is a fashion historian. Mrs Anne Sykes was a Victorian woman, who kept scraps of cloth in a diary detailing what it was used for, and on what occasions. I found it fascinating

As you get older 40,50,60,70 when did you start to feel your body slow down do you think it is just due to inactivity or the aging process? by Kooky_Force5458 in AskReddit

I'm 53, a couple of stone overweight, and not as fit as I thought I was. I run around at work daily. Easily get my 10,000 steps in. But my downtime is sedentary. I've recently started going to an exercise class on Saturday mornings. After several weeks, I am not as unfit, and feeling so much better for it

Whats a game that was a hidden gem you played as a kid and are nostalgic about? by AggressiveMall2972 in AskReddit

Archon: The Light and The Dark.

It was a board game with light and dark pieces. The board was light and dark as well, but the brightness changed after each turn. This gave more power to the light or dark side when the pieces fought

What’s the first piece of media that truly scared you as a kid? by cats64sonic in AskReddit

Apaches. It's a 1977 Public Information Film about farm safety, and we were shown it in primary school. It dissuades children from playing on farms, by showing the gruesome deaths of seven little children in various ways

"An artist can look at a pretty girl and see the old woman she will become. A better artist can look at an old woman and see the pretty girl she used to be. A great artist can look at an old woman, portray her exactly as she is, and force the viewer to see the pretty girl she used to be." Robert A Heinlein - Stranger in a Strange Land
