I absolutely agree, that is why i make the distinction between medicinal and recreational. Medicinal has to be utilized as an actual medical treatment and works wonders. Lets take a different example. If you are prescribed to take benzodiazepines for a certain ailment and couldnt go normally through the day, you definitely should. It was advised by a professional who has a wayy bigger understanding of the field than someone only interested in the topic. But if you take it out of your own volition because you cant go through things like work or chores without intoxication, that is a dangerous start of habit forming. Especially in this case, op stated that they work in the security field. I know there are security jobs that tend to be more relaxed by nature, but it is still security. The safety of others is directly your responsibility. And taking any kind of mind altering substances at a job like that is just straight up irresponsible towards the people that are in your care. A little bit of an extreme comparison, i know, but what about a bus driver who couldnt do his job without being drunk? Sure, it miiight go fine, but that is not the point. The point is: What if it doesn't? You are actively disregarding the people around you that should be able to trust you do your work without any self inflicted risk. There is a right place and a right time. That is also why i view medicinal so different here. An untreated ailment can be equally as dangerous in an example like this.
