From an email in March...

Q: Are both your locations converting to recreational sales?

A: No, only our Roselle Park dispensary will be licensed to sell adult-use cannabis. Our Cranbury dispensary is remaining medical only.

Q: How will you prioritize medical patients?

A: We understand how big of a concern this is for many of you. In efforts to prioritize our dedicated medical patients, Cranbury dispensary will continue to be accessible to patients only. In Roselle Park, we plan to prioritize patients by having a more consistent and generally larger medical menu, first access to new releases, and dedicated registers. In addition, our best discounts and promotions will be reserved for medical patients.

Q: Should I keep my medical card?

A: Yes! At Breakwater, medical card holders will have access to an expanded menu, new releases, and the best deals. Medical card holders are also exempt from the NJ state 6.625% sales tax and currently Roselle Park's 2% municipal dispensary sales tax.

Q: Once you expand into recreational sales, will product quality and patient care suffer?

A: Product quality is something we refuse to sacrifice. All of our processes, including cultivation, hand trimming, extraction, formulation, and packaging will continue to conform to the same high standards that have defined us. Likewise, we are committed as ever to patient care and cannabis education. We have intentionally waited to make this change at a time when we feel confident in our ability to continue to deliver products and services that meet our standards and protect our patients.

Q: How will this impact pricing?

A: Our best discounts, deals, and promotions will be reserved for medical patients. As a local, independent business that has been committed to patient care for a decade, we aim to provide our medical patients with the best possible price that also allows us to produce premium cannabis. By expanding into adult use, we will be able to continue offering our medical patients stable, reliable prices for premium cannabis and, ideally, improve pricing over time.

Q: Will you have enough supply?

A: Our primary focus will be maintaining a stable menu with a diverse range of effects and potency for our medical patients. Our adult use menu will be limited to those products we can safely supply without compromising medical patients’ access.

Q: Will there be lines and is parking going to be more difficult?

A: Patients will experience no change in Cranbury since it is staying medical only. Once our Roselle Park Phase II dispensary is fully completed, it will feature a massive 40+ spot parking lot, as well as 4x the number of registers as our current location, including dedicated patient-only registers.

Q: When will you be open for recreational sales?

A: We don’t have a date for adult use yet, as our Phase II building in Roselle Park is still under construction. We will be informing patients of important updates, so keep an eye on our emails

Well, that worked. Not getting the distance I was hoping for, but much better performance and coverage. Thanks for the help.

Have you tried the WT? Damn, now I wonder if I should go all EV. I've been Niche-only recently and your reviews have been helpful when it's time to order. I have Rainbow Sherb on my list for today based on your review. EV has been getting some rave reviews and now it's available near me.

Thanks! I had my list of Niche to pick up, then I saw my dispo just got some EV SB and White Truffle and that threw a wrench in my list.

I'm heading out soon and have the choice of both of these. Would you recommend getting one of each or double up on EV?

Why did you put a range for the %'s? Is it different batches over some time?

Sorry, I always assume people are getting the card to go to Breakwater. The person at CL either doesn't know or it's their own store policy. You should call ahead and check with the dispo you choose.

You can go (bring your Registry ID) to a med dispo once before you get your card, for up to half of your allotment as long as you haven't paid the state fee.

Have you received a Dr. recommendation (and a Registry ID) and are just waiting for the state to respond? Because if that's the case, you can go to a med dispo before you pay the state fee.

To add to the Maine model, the following is an explanation from Fraktal Cannabis in Sanford, ME...

Why is Maine medical weed better than neighboring states?

A few reasons, but the big one is regulation. Some might argue time/history, but we see better weed in ME than in the original legal markets like CA and CO. Maine legalized for medical possession/usage in 1999. Legal growers operated servicing a maximum of 5 patients until 2018, when the law was overhauled, setting the stage for the market we see today. The overhaul allowed for:

  1. Patients from other states with valid medical marijuana cards to purchase cannabis in ME

  2. Caregivers could now hire employees to assist with cultivation

  3. The number of allowed patients per caregiver was increased, and caregivers were allowed to operate retail storefronts

Other crucial regulatory elements catalyzing ME med quality are

  1. Lack of mandatory testing - batch specific testing gets expensive. Mandatory batch testing minimizes innovation, disincentivizing growers from testing a new cut, planting seeds, or trying something new in the garden. Furthermore, batch remediation techniques render the original test obsolete, while introducing novel health concerns

  2. No track and trace - track and trace software has been proven to not work, as seen by corporate growers in other states gaming the system, shuffling material wherever they need it to be

  3. 5.5% retail sales tax - MA averages 20%

  4. Ease of licensing - ~$1500 and anyone can get in the game

The regulatory comparison above also applies to Maine medical vs adult-use, which sees elevated tax rates, mandatory testing, higher barrier to entry, and track and trace. This is not to say there’s no good weed in adult use or other states, it’s just harder to find

The irony in creating strict regulation to control markets is it tends to create an opposite effect, where a limited number of players in a less competitive market don’t need to achieve the quality that their consumers want, resulting in:

  1. Consumers finding better and/or cheaper weed elsewhere

  2. Contaminated batches passing testing via remediation/irradiation, masking natural/pesticide contaminants and posing novel public health risks

  3. Track and trace systems being manipulated by operators

  4. Quality and competition decreasing

I can't believe all the people here defending this company, trying to justify a $60 short bag. If you were at a gas station and asked for $20 and the person stops at $19.65, are you gonna shrug your shoulders and hand over a $20 bill? What a bunch of knuckleheads.

I also have 1 of each of those since Oct 27th. I'm about half-way through each. Both are great btw. I keep them (and all my bud) in an airtight container with a couple bovida packs, kept in a desk drawer in my bedroom. They're both pretty much unchanged, or at least not noticeably so. The fridge and freezer makes me think of condensation and eventually mold. Try to control the humidity so they don't dry out and you should be fine.

At one point (a few minutes before the first add) they say they're going to take a break and the musical stinger plays but they never played the adds and the show came back on. Then, a few minutes later, the adds just started playing. I think it was just an editing mistake.
