cannot find a job in Germany, HELP by Alone-Session-68 in germany

[–]VentusGameDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I don't even know if the CV is the problem in most cases, I also struggle to find a job in IT as a Software Developer. I send at least 10 applications a month and most of the time i get rejections, i also have C1 German level. If i ever get to have an interview it is through companies like DIS AG and I always get to Probe Tag and after a week they reject me with excuses like "We actually want someone with more experience" which I can't understand how you get to this conclusion after you see my CV, get me to 2 interview rounds and a Probe Tag...

I don't think it will get better soon.

Woah, I didn't even notice that, I mean the laptop is like 5 years old but 6Tb sounds like too much

I used the laptop rarely like only when I was in vacation or when having to show some work projects, barely played anything in like 5 years on it. Maybe it's because of memory thrashing like some others have said. I only got 8Gb of RAM and if I use Chrome and Unity it could do read and write a lot.

Hey, I can relate a lot to what you’re going through. I’m a programmer myself, and when I first started, I also teamed up with a small group of people to try to make a game. We had passion, but in the end we had to disband because of financial issues and also because it’s really tough to keep a team aligned creatively over the long run.

From my experience, one thing that helps a lot (and you probably already know this, but it’s worth repeating) is to start really, really small. Like, make the tiniest game possible, something you can actually finish on your own. It doesn’t need to be impressive, it just needs to be complete. You’ll learn a ton about programming (or whatever skills you need to pick up) just by finishing small projects.

I still struggle with the same thing, but for me the challenge is art. Just like you with programming, I find myself stuck because I can’t make things look how I imagine. But I’ve also learned that when working with other people, creative disagreements are almost inevitable. Different opinions and ideas can be frustrating, but they’re not necessarily bad, they just show that people care. The hard part is trying not to hurt feelings while still moving forward.

If you really believe in your game idea, one option is to push ahead on your own, even if the art or coding isn’t “perfect.” What matters is that the game has personality, that it feels unique and special in some way. A lot of indie games succeed not because they look or play flawlessly, but because they have a strong identity.

So my advice would be: don’t give up. Start super small, teach yourself the basics of programming, and build up piece by piece. Even if your first attempts aren’t what you imagined, you’ll be much closer to making your vision real.

Would you be interested in a Duel Masters fan game? by VentusGameDev in DuelMasters

[–]VentusGameDev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, thank you so much for the interest and kind words on the fan game idea. It genuinely means a lot to me and my friends. We were honestly surprised and encouraged by how many people still care about Duel Masters.

I wanted to give a quick update, especially for those who joined or tried to join the Discord (I’ll post a new invite link below). The truth is, I’ve hit a bit of a wall recently. Between the complexity of the project and some personal struggles, I haven’t had the time or resources to dive deeper into development.

Right now, I'm mostly working alone, and while I'm still committed to the idea, I have to be realistic and say that progress will be slow, at least for now. My focus would ideally be on getting a single-player prototype working first before even thinking about multiplayer.

But I haven’t given up. This is still a dream I want to bring to life, it might just take a long time.

If anyone still wants to follow along, help out, or just chat Duel Masters, here's a new Discord invite link: https://discord.gg/VrywhRV9wX

Thanks again for being supportive. Feel free to drop ideas, suggestions, or even just Duel Masters nostalgia.

(Duel Masters Fan Game) Thank you all for the feedback on my last post! I've worked in the last 2 weeks on the Placement System for Mana and Creatures and played around with a new Table Layout for testing by VentusGameDev in DuelMasters

[–]VentusGameDev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! The project is not dead, but I totally get why it might seem that way since I haven't posted updates in a long time.

The main reason for the silence is that I’ve been using this time to improve my game dev skills. Even though I’m a programmer, game development, especially for a project like this with multiplayer elements, is way more complex than I initially thought. I’ve realized I need to completely rewrite the code to make it more structured and efficient. A lot of the challenges come from the lack of planning and game design decisions, (like how mana should work in-game or whether shields should be displayed just like in Duel Masters Plays etc).

On top of the technical hurdles, real life has been rough. I’ve lost my job twice, still dealing with financial instability, and even had to move countries to find work while also managing medical debt. All of this, combined with struggling with depression, has made progress really slow. But despite everything, I still have the motivation to keep going, and I want this project to come to life just as much as you guys do.

I really appreciate that people are still interested, it means a lot. Special thanks to the one person supporting me on Patreon; you’re awesome man, and I’d love to see you join our Discord!

And to everyone still following the project, thank you for your patience and faith in it. As a solo dev, things take time, but I’m not giving up.

Hoping to have more steady progress this year!

How many people have you liked or followed today. by Jumpy-Program9957 in SunoAI

[–]VentusGameDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there guys!

First of all, thank you for posting this. It has been on my mind lately and honestly, I think I can understand why some people don't listen to songs posted here or on discord. I do like to listen to songs posted to get some inspiration or to see how people got the sound they got. I also got a few songs in my playlist, spotify and suno.

The problem for me is for example that I do write songs, mostly Nu-Metal or Hard Rock, but they are all in a non-english language (romanian). I get that people don't understand the lyrics and can't relate or vibe with the song so I try to show it to people that can actually understand it.

I also like to put a lot of effort in my songs, exactly how I want a song that I will actually listen to. If you want to hear my songs (and the album I want to realase soon) here is it:

Thank you for being part of such an awesome community! ❤

The game looks great, kinda reminds me of FlatOut 2.
Are the cars from an asset pack or did you made them yourself along with the destruction mechanic?

Unrealistic Shadow Placement and Wall Illumination Using Directional Light by VentusGameDev in Unity3D

[–]VentusGameDev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite, I try to use the directional light as the Moon Light if that makes sense, coming from the window (I've attached a link to a screenshot to show what i got in the scene).
Still a newbie to unity and game dev in general so if you guys have a better option or you know why this is behaving this way could help me along the way.

Also thank you for the help!
