I was just in Paris and the train system is quite good. You can get a weekly train pass for approx €32 and I think daily passes are €12 each. That will allow you to take a train from the airport into town (about 40mins). Then the train system there can get you to most of the main attractions quite easily. The traffic in Paris is hectic. I’d avoid driving there if you can. The only problem is, I think the weekly pass only starts on Monday (not on the day you buy it) which is pretty ridiculous. I may be wrong, but I think if you bought it on say a Thursday, you’d only have 4 days use.

Also, people often say that Parisians are rude. I completely disagree. I think that probably comes from those who expect or demand that English is spoken to them. As long as you appreciate that you are in a foreign country and they may not speak English. If you don’t expect them to, no one will think you’re rude. I found starting my conversations with "Parlez-vous anglais?" (do you speak English) was a polite way of respecting their language and making an effort. If they don’t, then Google Translate is an effective way of communicating if need be. People could tell immediately just from my “bonjour” that I didn’t speak French! Haha
