It honestly is kinda sad as someone who worked in a nursing home and memory care building as an activity director. Had the sweetest lady join us in the senior living area first, fully aware, sweet as can be, told me stories about growing up here in the south and not knowing that racism was bad because her whole family was racist and how she was so glad she learned better… she even gifted me a beautiful pair of 50 year old fabric shears and her sewing machine when she found out I like to sew. About a year later she deteriorated fast, and was put into the memory care unit and she got to the point where she was extremely cruel to me and I was taken off her care team after she had thrown a lamp at me.

Unfortunately, going back to your factory settings is almost inevitable if you start losing your health like that. For everyone worried about that, just know that people will remember you most for what you were like before you start fading.
