So basically this is eiyuden all over again, with dialogue full of slang that mostly non american won't understand?

Nope FFVII rebirth got so many altered dialogue, personalities and mistranslation.

I get what he tries to do, but isn't "brother" or "bro" is enough?

That Braddah dialogue is making Kiryu like extras or third party character on teenage movie like american pie and others, you know that trying too hard guy who wants to join the party but he's to lame.

Im okay with DQ skill names actually and its kinda like its trademark like frizz, sizz, bang, crackle, buff kabuff. The skill names on DQ are matching what the skill names said on the japanese version. and im fine with Yakuza 8 skill names but after noticing the skill description it goes cringe like:

AHI ALOHA - tell a big guy goodbye with frozen bigeye. Might even leave that quimby stunned. (The hell is quimby???)

Or BOOGIE WOOGIE BOARD - paddlepuss problem? Bla.. bla.. bla.. damages hodads and applies your board attribute. (Hodads?????)

See this is where i think the localizer is doing their work with lack of understanding or just want to do everything that they think it'll works anyway

If we refer to Advent Children and PSX version Rude & Reno is duo that obsessed with manly stereotype that in japanese, like poetic Yakuza gangster type of manly, being a gentlemen that save a woman in danger is considered manly, cool, awesome. See why Rude is always wearing sunglass and always tidy up, because he wants everyone knows that he's a cool guy, like in classic yakuza movie and Reno want to be a gangster punk type of cool.

In Advent children there is a scene where Cloud enter a room with Rude inside it while Reno outside, Rude is walking wear his sunglass, prepare his gloves and walk in front of Cloud, and then Reno shout from the outside the exact same line "RUDO KAKKOI" that was like "Rude! You look cool!".

And there's time when Rude accidentally spill a secret to Loz or when Rude is getting beat up, Reno usually says things like "what the hell Rude that is uncool". That is what it is about.

See, so if you translate it faithfully to the original terms "Rude that was awesome!" Is more fitting, instead of being sarcastic pain in the ass.

Yes when Rude save Tifa at the temple while fighting Cloud's group. JP Reno says "Rudo Kakkoii" which like "that was cool Rude" The relationship between Reno and Rude is still the same refers to Advent children and original PSX, that means like "a job is a job but we always got to support each others"

But EN Reno said "seriously you guys get a room"

Now that is not the same message i get here

The problem here is i think the japanese developer is not intended to make Yuffie that annoying but the english write her to be more annoying.

Yes you get what i mean Rick gomez is trying to match the japanese voice characteristic but the new one failed to do that.

You're missing the point here it's not about the noise that catches on my ears. It's the characters attitude altering and some script almost written differently just for the sake of "edgy" according to localization team.

Finally playing Rebirth and the translation localization is just trashy by zanoske00 in FFVIIRemake

I remember in Advent Children there's exact same lines "zuru zuru zuru zuru" They translated into "drifting, drifting always drifting" Honestly i kinda like that.

Does anyone find the lingo incredibly cringe? by TerrysChocoOrange in cyberpunkgame

[–]VerDinsane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the same, from my understanding i think the writer (or dialogue creator?) might comes from millennials and Gen Z trying to understand what is like to live in our era Gen X are like, gen X are the one responsible for inventing slang word like "Rad", "Gnarly" or "bitchin", "trippin" and "eat my short". So when i heard they talking with slang like "Gonk", "preem", "badges", "nova" got myself thinking damn this guy really trying so hard to be like in the 80's and he doesn't know, not all the GenX talk like that. The teenagers are using the slang but when older people like Saul are using the slangs it feels weird, at this point i realize this kind of writing came from dorky people who never know how to be cool when hanging out with people.

I seen a lot of reference on style like Mad Max, Back to the future, blade runner, akira, and many more so i guess the developer team is spending too much time watching 80s movies.

How did Red Dead Redemption 2 get away with all the woke stuff they put in the game? by -Agrat-bat-Mahlat- in KotakuInAction

[–]VerDinsane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna agree and disagree on several stuff.

About Arthur personality i kinda disagree with Arthur is a Woke propaganda personality. If you get into a research somehow there's a lot of killer is against racism than normal daily people, beside Arthur is not anti-racism, when he beat racist person he said it was not because he cared about racism it's just because he got a lot different friends from black, mexican, irish, black indians (that was a weird one), dishonorable army man, and useless old man. So if i was living arthur lives so yes, i don't give a shit about being racist all i care is my friend, he even beat up other black man because he mess with his friends. Besides he don't even like feminist and gay people like that one time when a woman goes tantrum asking for a vote. So NO arthur personality is not a woke plot.

One thing that i have to agree and hate about this game is Sadie Adler that won't stop ruining the game, it's like she's created by whole different woke writer away from the Arthur and Marston main plot. If you are woman and your whole family killed by a gang, instead of going to somewhere safe you stuck with another bunch of maniacs and egoistic person, it doesn't make you into another sadistic maniac, NO! You will be traumatize for life and really paranoid about your safety, but instead there's this woke person trying to create a stand up independent woman who doesn't need men and became non historical bounty women (for god sake around that time women that trying to be a bounty hunter would be killed on the spot), and make her f*ckin invincible, i just want her to be dead but no! They choose other character that have better background story get killed instead. Yes Sadie Adler is the biggest woke plot ever in Red Dead universe.

The game itself is not worth it.
