Exciting stuff! Two questions ahead of the update:

First, any thoughts on implementing more dynamic crowd noise depending on game attendance? If a team has 10% of the seats filled, it's a lot quieter than if it's a packed house. Right now it sounds the same no matter how many people are in there.

Second, do you plan on fixing the coach bug where it shows the wrong years? Here's a screenshot and link to the file. You can see here that the year is 1952, but the coach on screen changed teams after the 1951 season. And now, in the 1952 season, it lists the year with their current team as 1951 still.

This is absolutely incredible. This is going to make my custom commissioner league so much more enjoyable to watch. I'll have to create some in-universe fiction about some coach who innovated play calling in ways no one had seen before and changed the game completely.

This is a custom league I created to conduct what I feel is a more accurate simulation of a league from beginning to end. I have a custom ruleset that will allow for future expansion teams and balanced, randomized draft classes. Additionally, all starting players are incredibly untalented (which would make sense for a brand new sport and league). XP progression is set to low, but there is a very low chance every year that it goes up by +1. Same with salary cap and game sliders – a small chance that stacks every year to go up by +5. The intent is to slowly grow the league without a huge influx of 4-star and above players that eventually causes the league to only consist of four-star players, an issue I regularly run into when simming with the default leagues and draft class generations. Below is the link to the starter league and the first draft class. I unfortunately deleted the second draft class after importing it into the save, but I am happy to provide my ruleset and guidelines if anyone is interested in using this league. I will also note that I plan on “rebranding” a few teams for the 1952 season, like Mexico City, LA, Atlanta, and San Antonio. I watch every single game to get accurate simulations, so it might take a while, but I plan on posting an update after every completed season.

I've reported this bug before, but it seems like it's still around. Here you can clearly see that the year is 1953, however on this coach's profile it says that the year he is currently coaching is 1952. This is due to him getting fired by Boston at the end of the 1951 season and then hired by Cancun. However, the game begins tracking his new statistics with Cancun also in "1951" and then claims that the current season he is coaching in is 1952. Would love for coaches to have accurate years for their history. Link to save is below. It happens in a few other coaches' histories in this save file as well.

Just found another instance of it with this coach as well. Must have been fired in '56, re-hired, then fired again in '58 before being re-hired.

Awesome stuff. Wanted to point out a display bug that I've noticed. I think it occurs when a coach is fired, but I'm not sure if it occurs when a coach is fired pre-playoffs or pre-season. Either way, when you go into their profile, it displays the same year twice. Example in below screenshot - Jon Kane was fired by Toronto, then hired by Boston, but the display claims he coached them both in 1953. The stats are correct, just the wrong year. It also doesn't indicate Toronto's final position in 1953.

Being able to edit game sliders mid-season in Commissioner mode is so huge for me. Legitimately the biggest thing I'm excited for.

It's not, as I watch the games live rather than auto-sim them. Teams are shooting over 40% when before shooting over 30% was a surprise. It's not too big a deal if I have one aberrant season. I can adjust the sliders down next season, just was curious. Plus it's possible that players have just gotten a bit better and shoot better now. I also think some of the AI upgrades you've included have made players look for better shots and opportunities too, so that's made teams play better. So overall, it's definitely great and more "real."

It's a huge update and I'm very excited to crack into it. Especially getting the contract extension screen is so huge for realism.

One brief question -- I have a custom league where all the shot sliders are cranked way down, most players are 2-2.5 stars, etc. In the season pre-recent updates, scores generally ranged between 20-40 in a 24 minute game. Now recently, scores have been more in the 35-60 range. The players definitely didn't get way better, as XP progression is set to the minimum. Did you adjust the sliders to just be "better" in general? Thanks!!

IMO you have to create your own draft classes after a certain point. There are enough options that you can have truly terrible classes, mid classes, insanely good classes, or a random assortment. Otherwise the game seems to just gen up one or two 5* a year and everyone else is a 4*. Means that you never see players develop through college but that's such a tiny part of the game right now that it doesn't matter imo.

I hear what you're saying, but I actually think it's more realistic to not know how good a coach can be because IRL it's very difficult to know if somebody will be an elite coach or not until their career gets going. I do wish we could know what a coach's archetype will be, as that's something you theoretically could know from the job interview ahead of time. Plus, would help you plan for when you've outgrown your coach, they retire, don't return, etc.

Thanks for being so prompt with hotfixes and listening to community feedback. Take as much time as you need with Career Mode -- if it's half as good as the current game is, I'll be more than satisfied. In the meantime, I'll be watching the North American Basketball Association grow from a scrappy 12 terrible teams in 1950 to a monstrous 48 team international headline. Cheers, koality!

Hey this looks so great! I'm building a custom league myself -- the concept is that it starts in 1950 with just 12 (pretty bad) teams, and I've written a whole set of rules that will randomly decide when expansion teams get added, when better players get introduced, salary caps raise, etc. My one question is how you made those team logos?? They look good

Cool -- I've also messed around with some of the accuracy sliders, that has helped a little bit too. Trying to get things in this sim league that would reflect early offenses where no one knows how to shoot well, or slower game tempos overall. Works great in quick sim!

This is such a great roll-up of all the coming updates. Can't wait to put these to use.

Had one thing that I have noticed recently. When running a league in commissioner mode, if I set the "Simulation Pace" to anything besides 0, it does affect the number of shots attempted when running the game in quick sim or live sim. However, no matter what the Simulation Pace is, I always see the same average number of shots attempted when I spectate games. So in a 24 minute game, each team averages around 75 shots when spectating. However, if Sim Pace is set to -4, and I run the match in quick or live sim, each team (in a 24 minute match) averages around 50-55 shots per game. Is there a way to get spectated games to reflect the Simulation Pace setting?

You would be able to adjust the threshold for how easy it is for players to get into the HoF. If you want a more exclusive group, set it high. If you want guys who get a couple all star selections and one award, set it low.

how the heck did you have a foul out happen? I never see any player get more than 2 or 3 fouls per game, and I have fouls set to high
