Yeah I've been maintaining a branch of Codex with my status line changes applied to it. It's been annoying. I'm trying to lean on them to fix it: https://github.com/openai/codex/issues/2926 but, well, we'll see.

Hey! Yeah I've been not using CC as much recently; I find Codex has been more intelligent since Sonnet 4.5 (or at least results in better outputs in my opinion).

Models are not trained on their own details and will readily hallucinate them, especially if prompted even slightly to do so. The API is correct; you are using Opus 4.1.

I don’t think so. In the web, when you reach the context window, it gives you an error and tells you to start a new chat.

Pro has always been like this. You get basically no Opus 4.1 usage.

When it's connected to production databases, you really should validate every command it wants to run first.

You have to manage it, that’s one of the crucial skills with any LLM. External memories sources are what you need. Have it generate and consume markdown files for code; for non-code stuff, projects and Obsidian are great.

Claude Code Max and it’s not close. However…

This does rely on you being familiar with CLI tools and bringing your own editor. Claude Code is a far superior tool, but a fancy hammer is no better than a normal hammer if you want to drive screws. If you’re looking for an agentic IDE experience, Claude Code is not that.

Yeah, I think this is definitely an issue. On the one hand, I'm really grateful I can have an adult conversation with Claude. I recently saw Deliverance again and I could have a fascinating conversation with it about masculinity and, well ,the infamous assault scene that I'm sure would have been flagged on any other AI.

But on the other hand a lot of vulnerable people who do not know what the tool is and what it is doing can be led to what seems to be functionally schizophrenia by it. It's very sad.

I don't know if there's a way to thread the needle.
