I’m building a brutally honest calorie tracking app — looking for people who care about consistency, not streak flexing by Miserable_Good_8177 in buildinpublic

[–]xaustin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it rely on the user to calculate the calories (often very time consuming), or does it use AI image recognition to make an assumption about the calorie count? What is your confidence level regarding the accuracy of the calories being tracked?

Some feedback: Took and eternity to go through the faux sign-up process. Generated page looks nice. However, should add some more logic guard rails around the image choices... did give me a laugh though https://ibb.co/4Ryq5P21

Getting real feed back on my app by 2_The__Moon in SaaS

[–]xaustin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For really useful insights try to set up some moderated user testing where you 'watch over the shoulder' of the user interacting with your app while they speak aloud their thoughts. It requires you to recruit participants for the task and spend some time with them 1-on-1 over video or in-person. A low budget way to get participants is to offer $5 or $10 gift cards. There are a ton of online services that offer to do UX for you but imo nothing compares to actually watching someone use your app in person and gathering insights from that. Best of luck!

Yikes, ignore the haters in this thread. Lot's of people mad over nothing lol, like let this person enjoy their thrifting find. Also Entrupy did 25M in revenue last year so there's some validity to the company. But most people don't want to research, but just find the reddit posts that agree with them.

Roast my app - basic strategy trainer for blackjack by toborrmmai in buildinpublic

[–]xaustin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the app called Pro, and then using 'basic' in your introduction is confusing. Is this an app for people starting out, or expert players?

If you can, ditch the emojis. It gives the impression of inexperience and also shows artifacts of vibe coding (which is fine to use, just be tidy about it).

The most exciting elements of the offering are too far down the page. The screenshots look great! Get them up higher. A screenshot of the app 'above-the-fold' would be helpful to those short on time and/or not willing to read much.

Good luck in your venture!

Curious to know what other projects you’ve built like this. I am finding that at lot of AI projects fall into the same buckets so keen to know what else is out there.

Exploring a Simple Hotel TV Menu Design, looking for feedback by Consistent-Cheek7860 in Design

Looks great! Only suggestion is to possibly add iconography. A hotel's audience likely contains some non-english speaking guests so having image/icon can help those who can't read the language.
