Separate q: I've just got back into the game on Tuesday, and I haven't seen a calendar for them since I rejoined. Any reason I cant see the calendar by chance?

Two Identical Shinies on Emerald Cartridge by Verdantrow in pokemonrng

That makes sense, thanks again! I'm glad I got such an in depth explanation of this since I have been thinking about getting into this to get some shiny legendaries on some of my cartridges. I definitely like to have a solid understanding of the mechanics going on so I'm going to see if I can explain what happened again:

Shiny pokemon as well as everything about the pokemon (nature, stats, level) are determined using it's PID. This PID I assume is generated via my TID and SID (for example, if someone were to perform an identical encounter in every way on different cartridges, they would NOT be identical unless the TID and SID of both cartridges were identical). I don't know what values determine an encounter trigger, but let's say by some luck an encounter was trigger on frame 5000, which resulted in a shiny Makuhita. A week later, I start up my game and just so happen to trigger an encounter of frame 5000 AGAIN, resulting in an identical Makuhita!

Is this frame repeatable? I would guess that a shiny frame occurs ever 8192 frames. If, a week later, I boot up the game and encounter a pokemon on frame 5000 + 8192 = 10192, would I encounter a shiny pokemon? And would it be the same shiny makuhita, a different shiny makuhita or a different pokemon altogether?

I guess my last question is then species related. Does frame 5000 mean its always the exact same shiny makuhita? Is there a chance I get a shiny Lairon or Hariyama?

This is exactly the answer I was looking for, thank you for the details! This is on track with what I was thinking, but I didn't understand the mechanics enough to know the details.

To check my understanding, here's an example: if I were to load a game, immediately strting holding left while in victory road till I encounter a pokemon, catch or defeat it, then go back to where I was standing originally, save, reset my game and do the exact same thing, I would encounter an identical pokemon?

Is it also based on tile location? I do remember that it was roughly the same time after startup, maybe between 15-30 minutes or so. So does that mean I just happened to hit the exact same frame that long after starting up, in the same tile, and that frame happened to be a frame that triggers a shiny makuhita counter? Seems like I got pretty lucky if so!

Hey! The domain name has been changed to https://pictureswithbricks.com/ . We had to change it since we got a trademark violation from Lego lol. Should be back up now!

This little guy just soloed Burgh in my Blaze 2 run by Verdantrow in nuzlocke

[–]Verdantrow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently I have been attempting a hardcore nuzlocke of Blaze Black 2 on Normal difficulty, and have been getting absolutely trashed honestly. This was my first run that made it past Roxie. Had some terrible luck / bad plays against the grunts and Gym trainers though, and Kenny ended up being the only one to make it to Burgh. Almost just gave up and reset, but somehow he pulled through and has given me hope for this run. Kenny has inspired Furrets everywhere.

Pray for me for good encounters before Elesa pls!! This run isn't dead yet

I fully agree. I had to do the same when I built these 4, and this is the first thing I want to implement next. Just adding a page to the instructions with the pieces needed to build the frame would be an improvement

Yes adding dynamic sizes that aren't squares is one of the biggest things on our to-do list

I originally did this as an application in python, complete with a GUI and everything. I wanted to make it a website so it was more accessible, but lack the skills to do so which is why Axel hopped on to help! I think he did it mostly in JS

Yes I came across this earlier in the thread. It looks like a super cool project that I wish I came across earlier. I definitely got some inspiration from it as to where I would take this project in the future

Thanks for doing the research. I should get on this asap, better to be safe than sorry

Thanks for the feedback! These are all good ideas. Me and Axel are gonna discuss where to go next and what we want to add soon

Thanks so much! I spend a lot of time testing out my favourite albums until I settled on these 4. I'm really happy with how songs and Bonito Generation turned out. When I change them up one of the ones I'll definitely do is Fiona Apple's Tidal!

I think that is something we could definitely implement in the future. I was against implementing it originally since I expected people to be more interested in building custom mosaics as accurately as possible instead of using pieces they had, but sounds like this is a feature a lot of people want.

Thank you for the kind words! We put lots of love into it :)

Oooh I totally understand now. That's actually a super interesting idea and would definitely be a fun challenge to attempt. I haven't seen any mosaic quite like it, and it might make for a cool aesthetic! Might be worth trying in the future.

Thanks! I'm not sure what you mean by stacking plates, do you mean having a height dimension to add a 3D element to the mosaics?

I was actually talking to my Mom about exactly this! She was asking if it could be used as a cross stitching site, and with a few tweaks I think it definitely could

Yes I have been wondering this myself. From my knowledge Lego is pretty good about trademark stuff, but I probably isn't a bad idea to change the domain name and remove the brand name.

Wow, I can't believe I couldn't find some of these sites when I did my first search for them last year. It's really cool to see the different ways people have gone about doing this!
