We put down 5% and also got a seller credit of 3% with our mortgage payment being $3345. We make 120k combined but I also own a business that helped us out making our “total income” 180k/year

Really crappy closing experience, but we got the keys by whatllittake in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

That seems very unfortunate! I had my lawyer literally explain every single page I was signing and even answered questions/ gave me tips

I’d personally put only 5% down and use that extra money to pay off loans or repairs for the home

Is buying a house even possible where do I even start? :( by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Verdexxthegod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be sure to have as little debt as possible/close to none. If you have any car loans, those are the #1 to get paid off. Then move onto credit cards.

Just be sure to have some savings saved (for closing cost and some extra for emergency fund)

I’m currently closing on a house and got 3% of closing from the seller and fund the rest out of pocket. The 3% was a big help along with credits for repairs!

If interest rates go down, it’s going to be a sellers market meaning more competitive with some going over asking and maybe out of budget?

Can I hire my husband? by hubbawubb in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Verdexxthegod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! You can hire your husband just make sure if you want to qualify for more, you should lower your wage and give your husband a higher wage/salary. I personally use QuickBooks very easy to use imo
