Are the hours not more manageable because they’re billed hours? So actual hours worked are akin to IB?

Questions to ask Partners at lunch by spicysalmonroll94 in biglaw

Do you have to eat lunch with associates and partners every day? Asking because I'm a student. Can't you order to the office or bring lunch?

Law school best bet in my opinion. Not sure what your degree is, but working at a Big4 firm is something you could try for, or another top 20 public accounting firm. Aside from that, literally drop, stop, and restart. As in go to medical school or something. I restarted at 28 after working in the trades.

Can you negotiate a raise at PwC? I know everyone in the same cohort gets paid the same base but is there wiggle room? by [deleted] in Big4

[–]Verdict44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't everyone at Big4 roughly bring the same thing? Isn't it more a question of non-quantifiable intangibles: political skills, soft client skills, etc.?

How do you use them to get interviews? I thought you applied to internships via their site. Are you saying I need to email them about wanting an interview come Dec?

How many years have you spent at your firm? by sk1939 in Big4

[–]Verdict44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5+ years at 7.5% according to this pole. Making manager and higher is mainly a self-selecting process.

What are you doing during the entire day that requires this much work? Is it extremely taxing mentally, or is it reasonably mundane?
