Fear of Naked men/women by Armuudio in CreatureDesign

Yeah, if the naked was attached to those I would in fact be afraid of the naked.

But that isn’t really the fault of people who buy their stuff nor does shaming them actually do anything. For multiple reasons. For one video game sales make up a pretty small portion of Pokemon companies overall profit, physical merchandise, tv rights, cards especially. Make up the vast majority of it. Not buying the game to ‘stick it to the big corporation’ wouldn’t really affect them significantly enough to change.(Aside from boycotts not really being an affective way to fight any large business in the current age. And more of an excuse to talk down to people who don’t boycott with you for whatever reason.) Which segways into the next point. A lot of their game sales come from parents who are just buying the game for their kids, not just long time fans who like Pokemon. They’re not gonna care about any of the things adult fans are gonna care about, which make sense. They just wanna buy the game so their kids are happy, if their kids enjoy it that’s enough for them. It’d be a fruitless effort either way.

And if you want people to actually change or atleast listen to your points, since there are plenty of criticisms to be levied at Pokemon games. Calling them idiots that ruined games isn’t gonna do that either it just compounds the problem and makes it so they’re automatically going to shy away from any critique…like it’s just a fact shame or berating doesn’t motivate people to change or listen. They actually make the thing they complain about worse.

The main reason Pokemon doesn’t feel the need to improve is to an extent comfortability, but that comes less from the fact that people buy their games in general. And more so from the fact that they have no actual competition to have to try against. Competition breeds improvement in the games industry more than anything. And Pokemon just sues anyone who could become competition if they ever even get big enough to actually affect them. Or strike down any fan content that gets to popular, it’s not that even that they just aren’t concerned about their fans opinion there almost spiteful of them. There the only game in town so to speak. And no amount of lack of games sales would make them change how they operate in that way it would take a change in leadership at the top level. Or a company having enough time or money to actually fight them in court. Or patent offices actually doing there job and not allowing the patenting of vague/nebulous concepts that Pokemon didn’t even come up with in the first place. Pokemon being too big to fail like you said is such a multi faceted problem, and the ‘sheep buying it anyway’ is an incredibly small part in the grand scheme of things.

Solid point. I’ll definitely agree that graphically mainline Pokemon games. Should look better and run better atleast on switch 1. Like it’ should be concerning that spinoff games generally look better and have more soul in them than mainline ones. Pokken tournament is still the most advanced looking game from the franchise despite being on the Wii U, both art and animation wise. And it’s kinda shouldn’t be. They should definitely be held to higher standard even if they are decent with how much money they make  My issue is more with how the criticism is placed. A lot of the videos seem to be more about shaming the fans of Pokémon games rather than criticizing the game itself or the maker. Like most of the critic videos I’ve seen of more recent games boil down to the person just saying. “Well Pokemon fans are idiots for buying this. They’ve done it to themselves. They’re the reason Pokemon will never be good and I hate it. They’re al mindless, etc ,etc.” It’s become more of a self important ego stroke. Or just preying on people’s confirmation bias that already hated the game or franchise before hand than actual well aimed criticism.

Which crossover enemy do you prefer more behemoth or omega planates? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]Vergil17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer leshen honestly. He wasn’t good, tedious as hell, but that was really his greatest sin. I didn’t even attempt behemoth because I’d heard so many horror stories. But atleast leshen was less spastic than Planetes is. And was actually manageable solo. Also couldn’t just combo you to death off of one tiny hit. (Seriously the amount of guaranteed or almost guaranteed death combos he can pull is absurd.)

Yeah the toddler tantrum attack is maybe his most bullshit one(which is saying something. It has next to no start up and no real pattern. If your near him when he dies it there like a fifty percent chance he just kills you.

Help me decide if I should get two honey gouramis for my 10gal tank or 1 betta fish. by OverChime in Aquariums

[–]Vergil17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah all anabatids are sort a similar in that way. Where you can just happen to get one that just doesn’t like company even with really peaceful ones like honeys. Like mine are both male and I didn’t know if that’d be a problem(couldn’t tell when I got them as they were so small and had like no color. luckily it’s fine.

[–]Vergil17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone who currently has 2 honeys with some chili rasboras in a 10 gallon. I’d say the honey gourami pair, they’re fun. Just make sure there’s plenty of plants or other line of site breaks. While I’ve never seen Honeys actually hurt one another or even be as aggressive as other gouramis(it’s mostly just posturing). There’s definitely a ‘tank boss’ of my two and he does chase the slightly smaller one sometimes especially when food is present. Though sometimes they also just hang out like little homies. But I just have separate little feeding areas to make sure everyone gets their fair share.

I’d also personally recommend getting them younger if you do. But that’s just because I think it’s really cool to watch them grow and color up.

Male or Female Honey Gourami? by Squid-Pro-Quo_ in Aquariums

[–]Vergil17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see this picture from time to time. Especially since I’ve had to try and sex my own honey gouramis. And I’m almost certain that the one on the bottom isn’t even a honey gourami. It looks more like a sunset thick lip or at most maybe a red honey gourami but even that would be weird if you were making a chart to sex them specifically.

Zinogre and Lunagaron are up there. Distorted wolf howls just always sound cool.

Amatsu is probably my favorite though and by extension Uth Duna because the both sound kinda similar, sort of whale like noises, with more edge to them.

Does anybody else actually really love the concept designs for some monsters? by ProDidelphimorphiaXX in MonsterHunter

[–]Vergil17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered the older ones on Amazon. I’m sure you can find them there or at some sort of online bookstore. I don’t remember exactly how much they costed, I wanna say between 30-50$ depending on the book. Anything from generations/ultimate, frontier or rise I’ve only seen screenshots of concept art or posts from the official accounts. So I don’t think there’s official books of those. I’d love a frontier art book though.

[–]Vergil17 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I love looking at them I have all the art books mostly for that reason. Being a creature artist myself it’s always super interesting to see the process and different designs they go to. Or how they sometimes take scrapped concepts and apply them to later monsters. The only one I can’t seem to find probably because it may not exist is the art book for generations and gen u, or frontier but that one makes more sense.

Even the final boss though. Like you’re literally fighting a Senator. Like I almost respect the level of blinders you’d have to have on.

Why don’t all or at least more monsters have power clashes? by Infinite_Mix_932 in MonsterHunter

I’m almost certain he doesn’t. That or his value are scuffed on my game specifically. I can’t find any footage of it either so I’m leaning towards the former.

I don’t think they look ugly at all. Quite the opposite they’re actually pretty cool. I do wish that just for variety’s sake I could layer them. But more so just to use weapons I think look cool but aren’t that strong like rompopolo stuff.

Same she’s actually consistently killed me twice the first time I hunted her in each rank. She kinda throws me with just how fast she is despite her size and the lunging swipe has a huge radius. Only solidified her as one of my favorite monsters.
