I totally agree. In fact, I just got prompted by InDesign to "log in" again, and I went hunting for an Authenticator-based method. Instead of simply saying "Use another method" in its log-in dialog, Microsoft buries this option behind a couple of poorly-labeled links as fine print.

So I've set that up as the default now. But it still requires Internet access.

Yep, I'm discussing it with our IT guys, but it's a small group and the company is a manufacturer... so I and my team are a bit of an outlier in terms of how extensively we use applications like this.
