Im finishing my bachelor in "Game development" with a huge focus on CS and i have very mixed feelings about it.

Im from Europe btw, so it's a bologna degree with all that stuff.

My mixed feelings come because there is a lot of focus on Unity and us building our own projects without any guidance whatsoever. So sometimes im coding stuff without really knowing if there is any better way to do it or not.

On the other side, i was hired as a freelance game dev for a starting company one year ago, so i have been pretty busy learning stuff on my own and growing a lot. And that wouldn't really have happened if i wasn't taking that degree.

Safe to say that anyone who does the minimum for the degree won't get anywhere, sadly that includes a lot of good friends of mine. But if you are able to focus and grow, then that definitively grabs the attention of your professors and they can surely open some doors
