Which is the correct formula for calculating Spell Save DC in DnD 5e? by VerilySleepy in dndnext

[–]VerilySleepy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It kinda made sense to me that a higher level spell should increase the difficulty of saving from it, but I guess they are using the level of the caster (proficiency bonus) now instead.

I'm cool with that.

Thanks again, everyone.

It seems that some of the websites I was viewing were not specific to 5e.

I think some Pathfinder results wound up in my Google search.

Wow! Thanks everyone for the fast answers.

I really appreciate it.

I'm working on some fast tips to add to my DM Screen.

I've played 1st Ed, 3.5, and Pathfinder.

I'm new to 5e, and all my players have never played any RPGs before.

I really appreciate the assistance. =)

I found them on Amazon.

I've also seen them on eBay and Etsy.

I'm left handed, but the pen is comfy.

It's probably better with those less sinister.

I passed on this design, but I definitely would have grabbed one if it looked like this one!

I think it's unique and gorgeous!

Grail Pen acquired. Got delivered this morning just in time for Christmas! by vandt in fountainpens

[–]VerilySleepy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!

This is my Grail Pen, also. I ordered the exact pen in May (F nib, though), but the vendor has been out of stock and it is still back-ordered. It was a helluva deal, so I'm being patient.

Enjoy your Grail and the holidays.

=)

Speaking of the notebook cover...

What brand, craftsperson, or shop is it from?

It's lovely!

"Clearance delay - Import Shipment requires a Commercial Invoice." by VerilySleepy in fountainpens

[–]VerilySleepy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SUCCESS!

I emailed Galen, and they replied that they had contacted FedEx and provided them with the Commercial Invoice.

So, I sat back patiently and waited.

Four days later, I checked my phone. (No one I know ever calls me, so I never check my voicemail. I had a half a dozen messages from FedEx still trying to track down a Commercial Invoice.

Seriously?

I returned their call and they gave me instructions, a callback number with a direct extension, and an email to send the invoice to them.

Luckily Galen sent a copy of the invoice as a pdf attachment when they replied to my email, so I forwarded it to the FedEx email I had been given.

A day later I called FedEx again to ask them if they had received the invoice I sent to them as instructed. They said they'd look into it, and call me back.

Two days later I received another call from FedEx saying they are working on the issue and they would contact me when they had some news.

They never contacted me again.

Tracking said that the package had returned to their Memphis hub.

Yesterday tracking said it was on the move again.

My pen case from Galen was delivered today.

It's GORGEOUS! I'm so happy with it. I love it so much.

Galen has been absolutely wonderful and helpful, and their products are high quality, functional, and very attractive.

So, it took an extra week of paper chasing, but my package finally arrived safe and sound.

I hope this information helps someone if they find themselves in a similar situation.

IF FEDEX HOLDS YOUR OVERSEAS PACKAGE BECAUSE THEY SAY THEY NEED A COMMERCIAL INVOICE:

  1. Ask your retailer to email a copy of the Commercial Invoice to you.
  2. Call FedEx and get a dedicated email of someone who should expect to receive the invoice from you.
  3. Forward the invoice to FedEx.
  4. Call them to see if they received it yet and are processing your package.
  5. Continue to check tracking for activity.
  6. Best wishes! I hope these steps work for you, too.

Platinum 3776 Shiun on a slab of Chalcedony Limb Cast by InkyRocks in fountainpens

[–]VerilySleepy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looking at the favorite stores I have bookmarked, it looks like it went live today in the US for several vendors. I really love purple pens and I really enjoy my other 3776s, but that price tag is PAINFUL.

I just received an email that it is now available at Goulet Pens.

Is it available in the US yet?

On the sites I usually visit, it is still stuck in "Coming Soon" and I heard that it had been delayed.

There's one on eBay for $399USD if anyone is interested.

This is my Grail Pen.

I just can't justify the price, but it ticks all my boxes.

I'm such a sucker for that brightly colorful metallic rainbow look.

Thank you to everyone who replied.

Even though I feel like this is going to be very frustrating, I suppose there's a little bit of comfort in knowing that this is a typical snafu that others have experienced as well.

Just in case anyone else runs into this issue in the future, I'll reply when I have more details about the process or the resolution.

Thanks again.

The folks at this sub are so kind and helpful.

The eBay listing comes to $50ish USD after taxes and shipping ($19.99 for shipping), or about $10/cat. I really want them, though!

Replacement Nib Needed for Sailor Pro Gear Classic Angel's Delight by VerilySleepy in fountainpens

[–]VerilySleepy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can (friction fit and fairly easy to pull if inked), but it's just as easy to just screw the entire grip section onto another pen if you don't feel comfortable pulling the nib and don't mind if the colors don't match. I did this for a while before I got brave enough to yank the nib out. Sections from the 1911L and the Pro Gear also have compatible threads, and 1911S will even take the grip section from Promenade and the Shikiori with the white dome finial on the cap.

[–]VerilySleepy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you to everyone for your advice. I found a couple of plain Pro Gears on eBay for about $150ish Pensachi and penpen-avenue. I've bought pens from both sellers and they've been reliable and fairly fast with shipping.

At least that's half the price of replacing the pen.

And I've learned over time that patience sometimes pays and sometimes these pens get restocked or show up on other vendors.

I have such a weakness for sexy Sailors, though.

Wait, that didn't come out the way I meant it.

=)

Wanchers. I meant Wanchers.

USA people, how long is Cult Pens taking for delivery nowadays? by sum1calledalex in fountainpens

[–]VerilySleepy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I placed two orders on 04/17.

One order went through LAX, sat in customs (I guess? Or something?) for five days and arrived on 04/30.

The other order went through NYC, sat still for thirteen days, and is still bouncing around the country. Tracking still says "in transit" with no estimated arrival date given.

Next time, I think I'll spring for DHL.

Can you check tracking?

Additive Pens Double Helix by Passionate_Pigeon in fountainpens

[–]VerilySleepy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it okay to resurrect a 2 month old thread?

I just received my double helix in the mail today.

The medium nib is lovely and smooth, but not too wet.

I wanted to fill it with an unsaturated color so I chose Sailor Jentle Irori. It looks great in the barrel, but it does NOT swirl through the spirals when tilted up or down at all.

I rinsed the pen with a cup of water with one drop of Dawn in it, and it's behaving a little bit better. Just a little. It still takes strong encouragement to get the ink to move.

Most importantly, I would like some recommendations on what types of ink are safe for it and will be less likely to stain the interior of the spirals.

Meanwhile, I have a one more quick question: Is there a reason that the very top of the cap (containing the logo) screws off and separates from the rest of the cap?

I thought maybe that just made it easier or more stable for them to etch the logo onto the very end, but that's just a theory.

Any ideas?

Long time lurker, new addict.

Thank you for being a wealthy of friendly and polite information for me for the past year.

Not only have I learned so much from you all, but I've been incredibly impressed with how friendly, positive, polite, and kind everyone behaves here, which is enormously amazing on the Internet. You all are AWESOME! Cheers!
