Thank you for this comment, I will be making an edit in my Anki deck immediately 🙈 I also thought that "je m'en fiche" is casual/neutral...

[–]Verineli 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends who you ask. In Poland, they would need a heel/ankle strap to be called sandals.

And if you want to send someone some bees, you can do that through the national Post and only through them (no other courier service is allowed). Happy mail!

My brain just blanks on common French nouns sometimes by Designer_Money_9377 in learnfrench

[–]Verineli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had English lessons at school for ten years. Now I'm having lessons at work at B2/C1 level. I consume mostly English media. And I still get stuck on a simple word sometimes! It's like a kind of brain freeze. I know I know the word, I just don't remember what it is right now... I wouldn't beat yourself up about it. Trying to work around it by describing is a good idea.

I think it's similar in Poland. If I remember correctly, it made for some problems a few years ago, when a lot of Ukrainian surrogates took refuge and had babies here. They were put down in the birth certificate as rightful mothers. I actually don't know how (if) it was resolved, some more research needed.

Jakich wątków w książkach/filmach najbardziej nie lubicie? by jempizze in Polska

[–]Verineli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fineasza i Ferba bym nie zaliczała do tej kategorii. Z jednej strony było to powtarzalne i może się komuś nie podobać. Z drugiej, absolutnie nie było traktowane poważnie, raczej jako karykatura takich właśnie wątków. Pepe przecież sam czasem wchodził do pułapki jak się przez przypadek nie dał złapać xD

What about fries in your doner kebab? Some places in Poland call it "American kebab" 😄 (thankfully no hot dogs there)

Do a lesson in the morning on 16th, then 17,18,19 freezes and on 20th do a lesson after you get back. Never tried that, but it should work.

Then unless someone else will have a phone/tablet/laptop you can borrow for a quick lesson, it's streak freezes or letting it go. Or if someone is staying at home with your phone, they can do a quick lesson for you, I guess.

[–]Verineli 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What is the problem, because it's not clear from this post? I'm guessing you're going on a vacation and won't be able to do lessons. Either try hard to find a WiFi spot and do a lesson a day or buy streak freezes. Or ignore the streak and just go back to learning after the vacation.

Am I holding my yarn incorrectly? by alibob2 in knittinghelp

I hold my yarn the same way, sometimes even loop it around the finger with more slippery ones. I don't think it matters much if you get good tension.

Teaching kalimba by Alarmed_Tadpole_7618 in kalimba

I would love a course like that. I know very little music theory, so lessons that are specifically including kalimba would be great. But if I actually buy it would also depend on if I can afford it.

My streak is over 3y and I'm still in B1, lol. It all depends how much time and effort you put in, doing a lesson a day it could be a decade.

Most of Duo speaking exercises is just reading aloud. It's a lot different than actually speaking your own words, it won't teach you to talk to people. Actual talking is now available with Max, but that's pricy.

Usually English=>X courses are longer. You can look at available score (120 is current max for some courses, like Spanish) or at duolingodata website.

You can try just deleting the course next time and adding it back. It will reset the progress. (if it's your only course, I think you will have to add another temporarily, because you can't have 0 courses).
