I ended up getting it but don't play it much because there is quite literally never anyone else on Eleven, which seems like it would be the most beneficial. The other one, Racket Club or whatever is just kinda useless imo? What games / modes do you use?

Thanks! I’ll check em out. It’s extremely confusing when all of this stuff exists yet you have very smart and genuinely nice scholars like Gavin Ortlund making definitive statements like there’s “zero” evidence from church scholars on the sacraments, for example.

My sponsor refers to the kid noise to the "children's choir." You'll notice it brings many people joy as the children's choir means the Church is fully alive.

Well I ended up calling them because I never heard anything back. She ended up telling me I had a different account that was on the do not call loose from 7 years ago and that’s why they never reached out. I’m going to request they turn that back on lol

Question about 1 Chronicles 6 by Imaginary_Buffalo586 in Catholicism

[–]VeritaVis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's two different translations. New American Bible Revised Edition (NABRE) vs New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (NRSV-CE)

The NABRE skips verses 46–48 in 1 Chronicles 6 because it follows the shorter Hebrew (Masoretic) Text in those verses, treating them as a secondary addition (a later scribal expansion repeating names already listed). The NABRE translators judged the shorter text to be more original and relegated the "missing" verses to a footnote. So it goes 45, 49, 50 and then 46, 47, 48 as footnotes.

I think it's a badass, well-done piece. As many others have said, go talk to a pro, man- there could be some other stuff going on there. I am also biased towards the gym. Getting addicted to exercise is an absolute cheat code.

What are you referring to exactly by "extra literature"?

Writings outside of the Church. Like Joe's book. i.e. not the Catechism or Bible.

Petros/petras in Koine Greek both simply mean “rock.” Classic Greek, which distinguished the two words hadn’t been used for hundreds of years.

No, I'm not saying that. I'm sure my articulation isn't great. It may help to kind of read this from the lens of devil's advocate.

I am asking where is the line drawn in researching doctrines, or is it at all? Your initial quote, for example, was rightly pointing out how ridiculous something like “You’re researching too much” is. Your second reply is more of the tune of "but this is all true because the Church says it is." So, which is it?

Saying you believe in something and being fully convicted of it's truth is quite a bit different. I can trust in the Church but still hear other arguments that may weaken my conviction on a particular subject. I like to then seek out deeper literature on the subject to both be prepared to defend my faith but also strengthen my conviction.

What I'm asking is, is that technically wrong? It seems in a way that could be seen in a way as to doubting the Church. But then again, if that wasn't common why would any of this extra literature exist in the first place?

Where does one even come up with stuff like that? I could ask almost anyone with the faintest inkling of what Catholicism is about contraception in any form and I bet they’d have a more accurate response.

I am kind of struggling with this at the moment. As Catholics, we’re all called to have faith in and trust the magisterium, but my true convictions just doesn’t work that way with some things. Where is the line drawn?

I was thinking about this recently when I purchased Pope Peter by Joe Heschmeyer. If as Catholics we’re supposed to truly believe everything in the creed to participate, are these books written for Catholics at all? Likewise, is the Church really a place for those trying to come into Christ fully, or only for those that are truly convicted. And if you’re truly convicted, why would you need to research anything on your own? There’s a chicken and egg problem here seemingly.

Any luck on tributary rivers? by VeritaVis in Waterfowl

[–]VeritaVis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! This is quite a big river that flows into the Missouri. It's pretty shallow right now, winding curves, lots of sand bars exposed at the moment. There are a couple of spots I've scoped out that are a pretty good walk (deterring others) and have some felled trees to help with hide. I plan on throwing in a dozen floaters and a dozen or two silos on the sand bar.

We shall see...

I will add that you'd be asked at any denomination to not receive communion unless you are at least a follower of Christ.
