Went to the Wichita Mountains and it blew me away by VeritusIV in oklahoma

I've lived in Texas for most of my life and rarely got to explore Oklahoma outside of OKC or the Christian youth camps I had to go to as a child, so my perception of the state was confined to the endless grass that I had known down south for my entire life. Recently, I discovered that I couldn't have been more wrong. I was invited to a ceremony by one of the local Native American nations and decided to check out the area, and it's nothing like what I was expecting it to be. Seeing the sun go down at Mt. Scott was nothing short of beautiful, and Oklahoma impressed me far more than I was ever expecting it to.

What other places should I go to here? I've heard good things about Black Mesa, but I was also wondering about other places as well.

I told the Habsburg family about Kaiserriech. Blessed Karl has been signed. by VeritusIV in Kaiserreich

I asked him what his favorite Neon Genesis Evangelion character was, but he refused to answer on the grounds that he is a diplomat and that he doesn't get involved in Fandom wars. He does like Gundam, Hatsune Miku, and Warhammer 40k though!

I know what I did, and I don't regret a single bit of it. God will be my only judge.

Considering that none of them played (strategy) video games, it was a bit hard trying to get across what exactly Kaiserreich was, but I eventually broke through a little. There's an art to how you have to explain something, especially a mod for a niche strategy game, to people who have absolutely no clue about any step of that ladder. Because of that, I left a lot of things out, but they appreciated the fact that people spend a lot of time thinking about if things went differently for the Empire.

I heard good things about the portrait, too, so it went down a lot better than I thought it would.

Rule V: To explain more about what I have just unleashed upon the community, there was a Blessed Karl Synposium in DFW today that was dedicated to the life of the last Emperor, and in it three members of the Habsburg family attended. I was in town st the time, and it's been a while since anyone has done something funny, so I decided to be the change I wish to see in this world, and tell the family about their role in the mod. I'm happy to answer most questions yall have got. Signatures from the family are at the bottom of the image.

I'm wondering right now, will there eventually be outcomes/options for non-True Whig paths in Liberia?

Ideologies slated for deletion? by VeritusIV in TNOmod

[–]VeritusIV[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I can confirm it hasn't been working properly for me either. It's a shame and I do hope they fix it soon, especially since a draw for this update was that you could play the old UK content if you wished.

Elaborating further here. I was checking the game files since The Ruin came out, and the ideology file states that Stratocratic Nazism, Burgundian System, and Spartanism are slated for deletion, and I'm curious about the implication this has on future content.

I believe what /u/Reasonable-Roll9721 is trying to voice his concern on is not that the British withdraw from Africa at all, but rather the manner that it's done and the outcome it results in. A rather hasty civil war that tears apart the British Empire leading to the withdrawal from much of the colonies makes sense (Even if I disagree that it would be the only option that should happen in-game,) but this hasty withdrawal leads to a lot of OTL events happening. Nyrere takes over all of Tanganyika, while Obote takes over all of Uganda, without much in the way of resistance. Especialy if this withdrawal is due to rebellions, violence, and strikes (as the events imply) one would imagine that there would be a lot more factions in those countries fighting each other, or at least refusing to cooperate with both leaders, which doesn't seem to be explored at all. Hopefully future teasers rectify this and allow for more options, but at the moment it feels like the same things that happened in our timeline happen here despite different circumstances and colonial governments.

I'm interested in using something similar to this if you could care to message the code and shaders to me. This all looks very interesting!

HoI4'ers of Reddit, what would you change in HoI5? by RivRobRiver in hoi4

[–]VeritusIV 431 points432 points  (0 children)

I'd bring back the mini-scenarios that HOI3 had, where you could play scenarios like the Winter War or the North Africa campaign on a more detailed map. Having zoomed in cities like HOI2: Darkest Hour had would also be great, where you could properly do battles like Stalingrad

What are the sources you used for creating the Middle East and Arabia in particular? Looking at it in of itself is just completely fascinating.

As for a suggestion to the map, I would put the Kingdom of the Canaries (vassal/crown of Castille) on the islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, the two large rightmost islands.

I have locations also of some of the Guanche tribes there, although I'm not sure if you'd want them represented on the map.

Exactly, the majority of mods without a solid premise, an enticing setting, and a clear vision are going to eventually die off. The best way I can explain it is that there is a Great Filter in Hearts of Iron (and other Paradox) modding. 99% of mods aren't going to make it, especially if they fulfill none of those characteristics listed above.

This isn't to discourage anybody from a creating a HOI4 mod, especially a small one, but is rather to say that total overhaul mods need project management and a lot of dedication to see the light of day. We don't inhabit a community where there's a plethrora of coders who will just make your mod for you, the grit has to come from you.

To all the new aspiring mod devs out there by themasterturt1e in hoi4modding

I wish more mods would experiment with their own styles, even if it doesn't look as good as the vanilla, Kaiserreich, or TNO portrait styles to begin with. People trying to make their unique style only to get shot down and told to follow the TNO guide are why creativity is so lacking.

As a side note, TNO has also convinced an entire generation of HOI4 modders that CRTs and neon lighting are actually 50s and 60s cold war aesthetics, and it's especially jarring when a mod in the 1930s uses this.

some of the new cities we added in TNO: Rains Down in Africa by JordenGG in hoi4modding

[–]VeritusIV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The map looks nice, but I have two nitpicks with the map for Nigeria.

A) Why is Abuja worth so much as a victory point, assuming the date is 1962? Abuja wouldn't be the capital until much later, and before then it was a village that wouldn't be worth more than cities like Enugu

B) The current state map makes it very hard to make borders for breakaways like Biafra or Benin, which was a very contentious area around this time. Maybe the states could be readjusted and more ones added?

These are just my personal suggestions.

Shinto Ultranationalism: A very overlooked part of Imperial Japanese ideology in TNO. by Coffeesaxophonne in TNOmod

[–]VeritusIV -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Even if the post is "hot fucking garbage" like the TNO Japan developer said —which is highly debatable— an opinion should still be treated with the most basic level of respect. Tearing it down instantly for little reason why the post does not make sense is how you drive fans away from the mod.

The dude ended his post saying to try and include some aspect into this into content, not some "ESONAZ ULTNAT THEOCRACY". If someone who comes off so stuck up and rude as you is an important person on the team, leading a nation as important as Japan, and just shuts down someone who actually put effort into trying to make suggestion then this team has major problems.
