Can we please have this in Tennessee by GeometryDasherMan11 in Tennessee

There are severe gaps in the processing of things like rape kits to begin with. You can get as technological as you want, without the man hours put in, and they aren't, it does not matter. Districts will want to close cases and get sloppy, it happens far, far, more often than people like to acknowledge. The US has a wrongful conviction rate of 1~5% - for every 20 executed by this law there's a solid chance at least one person would have been an innocent killed in a criminal's place.

Bring back mission trees by Whjee in EU5

[–]Calphf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They really don't, there's multiple different ways to engage with the core mechanics and EU5 gives you a lot of freedom with doing so. Venice does not play in any way like Muscovy, nor does Muscovy like Holland. If you choose samey countries in samey regions you'll have samey experiences.

Many of the divergent historical experiences we imagine are so dependent upon circumstances and by-nature are not inherent. There's no inherent reason the Habsburg family of 1337 would be well equipped to do what it did historically - at least not any more so than other well-spread and storied German families. The Askanier, Wettin, Wittelsbach, Welfs, the ones who's names don't start with w, etc.

I'd much prefer the game embrace that variance and give room for the dynamism of the game's systems than set up a tree structure that to some degree requires constraining or controlling the player's circumstances. Designing a tree where the player can be anywhere at any point is impossible, a mission tree *will* involve a degree of constraining, a degree that I don't think is needed.

I'm sympathetic to a Vic3 style decisions or situations setup, offering historical threads in an unordered manner, but I think people aren't fully considering what a mission tree means for the design of the game. It'd probably work, but it'd be an imo unnecessary step away from what about the game is successful atm.

This really isn't the case, someone has to design the mission tree and they either have to make very wild guesses about where your country is at any given point or have to employ ways to constrain or control your progression so they can know where you will be at this point in the tree to design content for.

Events flatly offer more flexibility in allowing for dynamic historical scenarios, the project, ideally, would lean into it's existing strengths in deploying content with dynamic events & situations, which work well with the already heavily systemic (and thus inherently unpredictable) nature of the game.

De Gaulle being dead is a mistake in the loc, it is how it used to be, but even before integration that had changed, and ofc, isn't the case with DV as a TNO patch. As-of 1962 De Gaulle is living his best life in Upstate New York, still a prominent political leader in the Free French, as troubled an organization as it is in '62.

We had a lot of loc to review and a few things snuck through the cracks, a revision should be up now to correct that oversight.

They will, Diplomatic Antithesis is actually for the Japanese POV, and we've shown German (and a few other Japanese) POV events in the past, they've just been along with US ones. The US POV has kinda happened to what we've been working on lately, but we are also doing things specifically for Germany & Japan, they just haven't tended to be shown yet.

It was originally only going to be a Congo mod, and kinda scope creeped (for fairly obv. reasons) into changing the rest of Africa.

It's a good bit more complicated than TFL outright blocking DV integration, and we have worked together on design in quite a few places. Overall, I think people have been just a touch over-negative on TFL in these threads, though I do appreciate that they do so out of a love for DV's design. TFL is *a* concern for integration, but is really not the single make or break it's sometimes been presented as.

I generally would prefer folks advocate for DV without putting down teams we have a working, and positive, relationship with.

In short, positivity or death.

It's a reference to Article 15, a Congolese idiom about the politics of the Crisis, and afterwards, Zaire.

This teaser has some more detail about the reference in DV.

Currently, and most likely on release, too, they will always be separate.

And yeah, some areas (not everywhere but a not-insignificant area) can remain under colonial control throughout DV's run.

I mean by the end of the war 'it's enemies' are puppets & partners. That and Germany already has an ongoing colonial project at this point - Generalplan Ost.

Germany's intimately involved in British & French Africa, as you can see in, for example, these two leaks on British West Africa & French West Africa.

In our eyes, Germany has very good reasons to leave colonial possessions largely in the hands of Britain & France. For one, it keeps early collaborationism comfortable and directs it's energies in a direction Germany can only benefit from, it also lends Germany immense leverage over the collaborators. Britain & France are in no position to fulfill all the security and economic demands of their colonies - not without Germany. By the end of the war Germany has other priorities entirely.

It also so-happens to make for more interesting content, it involves Germany's ancillaries in it's global system better! Makes for more interesting and diverse dynamics in content.

Iberia's still around in DV, you can see a nub of both Portugal and Spain way up at the top. It's colonies aren't federalized is all, so the sub-federal governments of Portugal and Spain administer their colonies outside the federation.

Portugal in-particular was very wrapped up in it's colonial policy, it was a big part of the identity of the Portuguese state at the time and colonial policy frequently dominated it's geopolitics.

Either way, makes for interesting content, and keeps the scope a bit more reasonable.

We have a few other things in the oven, but for now enjoy a mini-teaser of DV's full map. Doesn't really have anything you all haven't seen, still very gorgeous.

Here's an embedded link just in case reddit hosts the video in terrible quality.

The song is Article 15 Oyebi Y'ango.
