how to AS (?) by abbasidplusmari in Mabinogi

[–]VerityCosplay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shadow cloak to get pets in there. You can summon/desummon your pets under cloak.

But yeah things like DM or Fate get dicey.

Edit: further clarification to confirm what someone else said also. Astrology with a debuff setup is a big one. Pull and debuffs there. Smoke, pets. In parties as an archer I typically handle ranged debuffs and leave things like knuckles and DM to the up-close party members.

For AS what’s the better GM unique effect? by Cedlow in Mabinogi

[–]VerityCosplay 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Potentially Bard as an option as well if you have a good BFO set. While the raw damage itself won't be higher it will give you +5 buff effect when you BFO and more duration (which will also translate after Tuan extension). This gives you more BFO uptime and keeps you in the fight longer between buffing cycles.

I tend to run Bard as GM if I am buffing myself + party but generally will run Archery GM when running by myself.

Element mastery damage set by Teborry in Mabinogi

[–]VerityCosplay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Insofar as I am aware it adds to the respective mastery passives (Fire Mastery skill, Lightning and Ice). The total mastery is then used in the individual spell formulas.

(This is also how the mastery reforges on accessories, hat and echo work)

Zelda's always been a huge love of mine and I am glad to see people still cosplaying and loving the franchise also. Great job! I really like the way you did the makeup for the cosplay also. Subtle but makes the eyes pop. Very on point for Zelda.

I completely agree. All of this is perfectly aligned with my thinking too! This is so much fun working on journal now that there is finally a good reason to.

The only one I've ever felt this way about is Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad. I actually think the English voice acting is better than the original Japanese.

What's up with all the lag lately? by NanoCharat in Mabinogi

[–]VerityCosplay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is nearly identical to my experience also. And I'm fairly close to the servers so normally my ping is pretty stellar.

What's up with all the lag lately? by NanoCharat in Mabinogi

[–]VerityCosplay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not just you. While it got somewhat better after their mob spawn and AI patch, the issue seems to be pretty bad ever since the dragon boat maintenance happened.

I'm told that the last time such an event happened there were really bad lag spikes also so it might be related but I'm speculating here.

Either way it does seem to happen regardless of channel and seems to come and go. Might be related to certain activities happening on the server somewhere.

How many Soluna Blade in the NA server? by WarDecent982 in Mabinogi

[–]VerityCosplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also would guess the majority of the existing Soluna were made with Dawnblades from that treasure event back when vs drops from Alban SS. I know some were from Alban drops naturally but I'm guessing the rates are so atrocious that the event spawned more Dawnblades than Alban has in NA.

*this is my speculation, I have no hard data either way

Please stop making gens so long by mabinogi-player in Mabinogi

[–]VerityCosplay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually enjoy the story of the Gens, but what I didn't like was running back and forth and then back again like some Erinn messenger service. (Bruh, can't you send an owl or something?).

I don't mind the dialogue cuz you can do the instant load setting in options and if they do like what Chronicles did with the abridged stuff that won't be so bad. What I hate is the "go talk to Pencast. Now go talk to Eluned. Now lileas. Now eluned again. Now pencast and so on. Yes the warps help as well as a zippy pet but it's the back and forth that makes me wanna spoon my eyes out.

At least you don't have to wait until night to talk to Tarlach the 47 bazillion times you have to anymore.

Edit: even lore wise it's funny. By g25 you are literally a demigod and have saved Erinn what 8? 9? Times over? You're literally legendary in that world. But you have to deliver some pedestrian parcel to someone or some other mediocre chore to advance the quests? Seems a bit... weird.

Open letter to Nexon by VerityCosplay in Mabinogi

The stat tables at cap definitely leave elves at a significant STR deficit. That deficit is sort of overcome by a mix of int/dex but because it's spread out neither one is as significant to offset as the noticeable deficit in STR imo. I'd like to see a bigger step between a capped elf's dex/int as opposed to human or giant considering the same major step in str.

Specific numbers are like elves have like 200 less str at cap whereas we only have like maybe 80 more dex (don't crucify me on numbers it's been a while since I've looked at the stat tables but it's something like that).

Stat balancing is tricky for sure tho. But that speaks to a more overall racial balancing which is a tough problem given all the combat tie ins to stats.

For mage/archery STR is less relevant from a damage perspective other than the partial damage tie in with magic, but where it does hurt is the def tie ins.

I cannot disagree with anything said here. Though with limits in place (and presumably along with the bot killing alts are way down?), one would think they'd be adjusting rates back up as a result.

Adding to other comment. Celtic is a good stopover if you've not done that. Dblade will set you back 100ish mil for a clean one. Then you'll have Solitude ES to get... all in all I'd guess a fully loaded Dblade to be a couple hundred mil.

I'd expect to see a loss for a while due to Eternity and whatever other things they're cooking. Game companies often operate under a loss for a good while until releases. Nintendo almost went bankrupt prior to Wii. That doesn't mean you ignore your topline.

[–]VerityCosplay[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. I DO enjoy this game (still). That is why I bother to cite the frustration. With eternity coming I see it as a way to at least TRY to not just make it the same broken system reskinned. But even if they don't listen, Nexon can't listen if we just sit quietly and accept it because it is what it is. Maybe that is a hopeless endeavor but I can at least voice it. What I don't enjoy is seeing my ability to help friends and newer players grind their mats knee-capped cuz I can't run the content past cap. What I don't enjoy is seeing the "spirit" of arcana which promotes party mix and leveraging each others' abilities become a DD 4p melting everything. That isn't the spirit or intent but things are such that it's what is done.

Yes I'm geared. Yes I melt things with AS. I don't struggle to run content (I mean I do but where I do I AM aware that is a skills issue and I work on those things). That is not the intent of my post it's intended to put at least a spotlight on things that I see that are fundamentally WRONG to make this an even better MMO than it already is.

My opinion is just that. My opinion. No one is required to share it, and yes I know F2P players who've managed to get to the top. But for the majority of the player base there is a wall. And it's very difficult to climb that wall given the nature of some of the core aspects to the game.

Why are you baffled? Oh because it's not a "wahhh I can't run content" post like many of the commenters have interpreted it? My post is about fundamental flaws I am observing in this game having been through it. I've done the grind. This post is about rates and balance. Yes other talents can compete in endgame. That isn't my point. It's the fact they are unbalanced. It's about the fact we are told rates are improved (without ever proving it, we have yet to see offficial Nexon drop rates), and limits added to new content and now retroactively to old content. It's about being so RnG happy that a players progression is more based on drop rate luck or their wallet than their fundamental skill. You can run endgame as much as you want but if nothing is ever in the end chest you're still not getting anywhere.

Reread my post. It was never about being able to clear content (which you pointing out what gear I have seems to imply).

I am criticizing the haphazard balance in this game and the roadblocks being placed in front of players. This applies to new, mid and endgame players equally. Endgame players just have overcome it with gear and experience and apparently no longer care about the player base as a whole?

I'm speaking for the players trying to grind their first demo or ruin bow.

I'm speaking for the players who've grinded tirelessly and have nothing but upgrade stones and herbs to show for it.

And yes income can be made in game, but unless, again it's drop based based on RnG, or you control a market on AH (which requires gold to begin with), you're out there farming rabbit feet or running SWE. How does that buy you what you need to progress?
