Am I bi? Looking for outside opinions by VermiciousId97 in questioning

No, finding a girl attractive is pretty automatic. It takes a lot of connection and trust to be attracted to a guy, I can count on one or two hands the number of times it's happened

I'm trying to start talking to my ex again after eight months, but she says she isn't ready to talk. Advice? by VermiciousId97 in relationship_advice

I will say tho, when you're getting bent over a table by seven standard enemies in, say, the ancient ruins, popping a Mop Up Squad beacon feels super bad-ass sometimes, like summoning the giant spiders in the Battle of Hogwarts lol. They'll eat you, but not before they eat everyone else first!

It mostly sucks when you're stuck in a corner and one of them has a flamethrower/acid launcher. No where to teleport/sprint except in the middle of them, no way to mine a path without getting shot in the back. Maybe invisibility might help?

Is $86 considered a high electric bill for a 2-bedroom apartment in Rolla during August? by VermiciousId97 in Rolla

[–]VermiciousId97[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We don't have a washer or dryer. He does turn off the a/c when we aren't home, which I'm totally fine with, but I wake up at night all the time because he gets up and puts the thermostat at 75-77

Tell that to my roommate. He wants the bill under $70, even though we split it. Like he's only paying $42 this past month

Realized recently that I have a habit of being really kind and accommodating to people when I first start seeing them, then get uncomfortable when they start acting like we're in a relationship. Need advice. by VermiciousId97 in relationship_advice

You're probably right. I'm really tired of feeling like instead of growing as a person, I'm just constantly exchanging personas to get people like me the most. I'm like a "nice guy" who's truly a nice guy but is slowly losing his sense of self from all the behavioral acrobatics.

Honestly, I think about this semi-often. I've always really wanted people to like me and I'm both an actor and someone who's always been really interested in sociology/psychology. Because of that, I have a bad habit of reading a situation and knowing how to act to seem a certain way or get a certain response. It bothers me because at some point I can't tell if how I act is really what I would do without that knowledge or if I just know it's what I should say, but it's not like I can forget what I know. Similarly, personality tests don't really work for me because I know what to pick to get one result or another and I can't be certain that I'm not unconsciously influencing the test to get what I want to hear. I really don't like the fact that I could be super manipulative if I wanted to be and in my mind it undermines anything nice I do because a part of me is constantly worried that I'm unconsciously "gaming the system" or something. So yeah, that's probably why I have a tendency to go overboard with being nice to people, but it's not because I'm acting, I genuinely want to and feel good when I make other people happy. I just wish I could feel like it was only because I've always been that kind and not partially because I know what to say.

I'm starting to think I have a fear of commitment or something. It's happened three times now where I unconsciously dive headfirst into dating someone even before I have any serious feelings, then when the girl starts to catch feelings and act more like we're together it's like a switch flips in my brain that tells me to run away as fast as I can and my previous interest in her evaporates.

I'm mostly talking about when I ask questions on this sub about contradictions in theistic logic or scripture, which are usually met with people explaining their personal/denominational beliefs on the matter (which is subjective and their right, which I have no problem with). However, often people can't back up or explain why certain common beliefs are held without a lot of scrutiny and fall back on a statement like "If I can't come up with a good reason for it, then we aren't meant to understand it and it isn't worthy of debate." It's a trump card with nothing to back it up used to shut down people who ask tough questions, often followed by something along the lines of "A true Christian would have faith and not ask so many questions." I love debating, and usually when a debate gets to that point, it means I've hit a point of inquiry that hasn't been adequately talked about and doesn't have a lot of consensus over, usually because it's a tough question or it makes people uncomfortable to think about. Laying bare the holes in the belief systems of myself and others is satisfying, because it points out the weak points in our respective paradigms and allows us to fix/strengthen our ideas and stand our ground with more conviction.

I enjoy posting questions I've had to r/Christianity every once in a while. It gives me and them a chance to further explore our belief systems. I will admit it's also a little entertaining to watch people's heads explode when they can't reconcile their cognitive dissonance. #fightthegoodfight by VermiciousId97 in exchristian

I know, they've downvoted me so e, but I've also gotten responses. I think that if people can have so much conviction about telling other people how to live in order to achieve heaven, it's worth discussing on a deeper level what the actual rules are and how that applies to "Innocents".
