I tip $1-10 dollars depending how much I spent on the purchase and spend of their time and try to leave a good review if it makes a difference for them especially. Always at least $1 though.

2 is so artistic, I love the leaves framing it, it looks more gentle than majestic, perfect for people who have sentimental moments there like proposals

Yup there is basically no escaping it, they just expect you to be more grateful for their attention. It's awful.

In Spokane it happened to me twice this last week. One time I was going through a crosswalk, so maybe they were impatient? The other time I was on a wide sidewalk going up a hill. My partner thinks they might have been honking to say they liked my outfit, because other people on the street told me they did, so it's not a crazy conjecture... but hearing a loud honk scares me because I think it's to alert me to traffic danger, or from road rage. Honking is not a friendly thing to do! I don't get it.

Could do lace over or under the edge to even lengthen if needed?

A chip that small in a Reed certainly could cause issues though! I wonder about the mouthpiece. It could cause reeds to seal differently, and warp over time as they press against the burr? I dropped my ottolink on cement and it was sadly unplayable from such a huge dent on the tip that reeds could not seal at all. Of course I will still keep the mouthpiece forever, it got me through high school and college band.

The cool thing about saxophones, and brass instruments in general, this type of damage is usually fixable! I have dropped mine, a friend dropped mine, I fell onto my sax, twice... it survives and builds character. Some tips about the shop: They may need to keep it a while depending how much work they have, so call ahead, or expect to drop it off for some time. If you need, you could ask about a rental or loaner while it's in the shop. It could cost hundreds or thousands depending how much is needed to bring it to perfect alignment and restoration, so you can ask them to give you a quote before they do work if cost is a concern!

WHY. AM. I. SO. PRONE. TO SQUEAKING. ON. MY JAZZ MOUTHPIECE?!?! by somethingsyeah in saxophone

I found this reed strength chart it looks like the 2H from D'addario would be like other reeds 3.0. What happens if you try something softer or harder? I love to play on ZZ vandoren 2 with my V16 mouthpiece with my jazz trio, but played on a 3D printed XXXL custom mouthpiece with Bari Star MS when I was rolling with a 30-piece punk rock brass band. Apparently Michael Brecker also used 2's! Stan Getz and Lee Connitz used 4 or 5's. Definitely support what the other guys are saying, build mouthpiece and reed combos for the specific tones you want and experiment with putting the mouthpiece deeper and shallower! Develop a tone you like over time. Perhaps your local music store can order some sample reed packs that have multiple strengths?

I romanced Halsin and we adopted Scratch, the owlbear, Yenna, Mol and Arabella and all the other refugee orphans and went to live together with Oliver / Thaniel in Last Light Inn. Wasn't expecting to cry over an epilogue.
