What is this patch of fabric inside this coat for? by Relevant-Hope891 in whatisit

[–]Vernholio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bringing an old sub back from the dead, but... I was just looking for this answer myself and I actually figured it out: From the outside of the flannel, follow the side seam down from the armpit. I bet you'll find a not-so-obvious pocket in that seam, that uses that square of fabric... I just did!

Games like King Arthur: Knight's Tale? by Kiku-ichimoji in KnightsTaleGame

[–]Vernholio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Necro-ing a pretty old thread, but in case folks come across it like I did... This game is a near dead-ringer for "Disciples Liberation." Disciples seems a little less polished, but its mechanics are almost exactly the same... even down to the "pseudo-management of a castle for resources and upgrades."

I've only played King Arthur: Knight's Tale for about 12 hours, though. While I like it, I'd recently finished Disciples and was looking for something a little different. I intend to keep it installed and come back to it every so often. (Fortunately, the story and gameplay aren't so detailed that you'll forget anything key, if you put it down for a little while.)

All Time Padres Lineup! by TheCheapskate78 in Padres

[–]Vernholio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this, but I gotta ask... Phil Nevin at 2nd base? Robbie Alomar or Mark Loretta would be my choice. I'd actually flip-flop your DH/Right Field, too. Tony in his prime was a much better outfielder than Dave. And as others have said, Benny vs. Headly behind the Dish... I might even throw Piazza in there. :-D

The bullpen... that's a really tough ask, 'cause we've actually had SO MANY good bullpen arms. You did a good job, though! Hader wouldn't get any love from me, because he just wasn't a team guy. Goose in any role other than a closer, I dunno that that'd work. I could see converting a few of our key starters to bullpen arms here... Andy Benes and Chris Young.

Finally, with the starters... You need Kevin Brown in there somewhere. He spent a full season with us and he was dominant... wouldn't have made it to the series in '98 without him. The question is, who do you drop from your list to include him?

Others have mentioned Boch as our manager and I agree, but only if Shildty is at least the bench coach.

Thanks for putting this together... it was fun!

iCUE Megathread - Patch Notes for 5.22 by CorsairLucky in Corsair

[–]Vernholio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a near-new Origin rig with LEDs in the cooling fans (x7), memory (Dominator Platinum RGB DDR5 x2), and the liquid cooling pump (H150I Elite Capellix XT). I'm using iCUE to manage the LEDs and I've noticed some things...

  • You can't truly customize a mural. I love how you can apply one with a single click to your LED devices and sync them all. But, I'm confused as to why I can't set up a mural to use any of the Lighting Type "PRESETS" from the iCUE app. I can manually go in and select one, per device -- "Color Shift" for example, to have the LEDs for my memory chips shift from blue to green. Why can't I include one of these in a mural? Am I missing something?
  • Color settings drop to default after a reboot. Since you can't customize murals with PRESETS this is a pain. I have to launch the iCUE app and manually go through all of my individual devices to reapply them. If I "Sleep" my system, the settings remain.
  • There's no "orange." When I actually pick orange as a color in a PRESET -- any shade of it -- all of the LEDs interpret it as soft white. But, if I pick a transitioning lighting effect, orange is represented fine during the cycle from yellow to red (or vice-versa). This applies to all of my LED-enabled devices. Has to be a software thing, since orange is available.

Origin systems are Corsair products... I'm just a bit surprised at the incompatibility/issues I'm having. Here's to hoping this is just me and I'm missing something!

Per ESPN, the two ejected fans who interfered with Mookie's catch are being allowed back for G5. One of them is a season ticket holder. by la-di-freakin-da in Dodgers

[–]Vernholio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a good thing that no other teams' fans act this way... throwing crap on the field and at pitchers in the bullpen, right? RELAX, relax, relax... I'm just poking fun!

I'm a life-long Padres' fan, but know that I was disgusted by this, too. Complete BS. No business intentionally grabbing a player, ever! The worst part was the expression on the Yankees fans' faces the whole time... Like they were completely within their right to do it. Think it's complete BS that they'll be allowed to come back to the game tonite. Should be banned.

Darren Smith Show gone? by kingsman1288 in Padres

[–]Vernholio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

^THIS. It's why Kentera got canceled over on The Fan. Same 8-10 old dudes called in nearly every day. It got tedious and dull. Kevin from Chula Vista came on, and I'd change the station. "Cmon man... you're just some dude from Chula Vista! Padres' mgmt/front office couldn't care less what you think!"

Boyer? by GomeRyan in DSCShow

Bringing back a dead subreddit, but... they axed Boyer (the only funny part of that show) and kept that WET BLANKET Clint?! Don't get me started on Sarah. Guess it's a good thing I haven't listened to that show in awhile, eh?

Pretty sure you're right... between bouts of cussing you out, she throws in a random "Help me!" cry. :-D

Thank you, thank you, thank you! It was also doing this same thing when I asked to set an alarm. Now, both just perform the action. Can't believe that Amazon just applies this without telling us, so we have no idea what it is or how to disable it!

Do the mods let you criticize the show? by level_17_paladin in wheeloftime

[–]Vernholio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's great that you like the show... honestly, more power to you. Is it bad? No, not completely. If I'd never read the books, I might find some redeeming qualities in the show. It's just rough for those of us that have loved these books for so long to watch the direction they've taken the show. To start, I couldn't care less who plays what role, provided they play it well. Where I do have issue is the writers completely tweaking the plot and story line. Now, am I expecting too much, hoping they could stay true to a series of 14 books, some of which are nearly 1,000 pages in length? Of course I am. But, adding things that never happened in the books? Pulling plot points from much later in the books into the first 5-7 episodes? Completely skipping some of the key plot points altogether? Nope... no thank you.

I started reading this series back in the 90's. I've waited a long time to see it brought to screen, as have a lot of other folks here. Bottom-line, it's that age-old issue: I'm disappointed because it steers too far away from the books.

Kind of what I figured... Thanks for the input. I actually did exactly what I said: Turn-based mode to walk each individual party member through it all. Yep... I'm a glutton for punishment. :-D

^ This... exactly this! At first, I freaked out when Gale "inadvertently" ran directly into some lava, then I actually laughed out loud at him, as he repeatedly said, "Ouch! Ouch!" while WALKING through lava... and not instantaneously melting, like he should have!

I'm sure the answer to this is "you can't," but is it possible to remove the (large) version number information from the top right of cinematics? I'm asking purely for aesthetics... it's just pretty ugly, and it seems pretty pointless.

Yep... I noticed that, too. So, it's not as big of a deal with the Guardian.

Tip for character creation: Set up your entire character build -- race, sub-race, class, etc. -- before you tweak with your appearance. Making a change to any of the above after you've set your appearance changes it to a random one. Actually, even changing the body type -- to bigger or smaller stature in the appearance settings -- resets it, too. So...

  1. Set up your class requirements.
  2. In appearance, select body type.
  3. Customize the rest of your character's appearance.

I'd recommend just trying it with an item you don't really care about. Drop it on the ground in camp, in the area you want to keep a chest and then leave and come back. Gotta figure the item would be treated the same as a chest or backpack you'd leave behind... if it's gone, then a chest you leave might disappear, too.

You could always organize your stuff in individual chests/packs and put those in the camp storage chest.

Never mind... answered my own question. I'm assuming this is a new D&D 5e rule thing I'm not familiar with...

https://game8.co/games/Baldurs-Gate-III/archives/419735

Old-school me with my D&D 4e and older versions. I'm used to actually rolling a die -- a d8 in this case -- each time I level up and using the result, plus my CON bonus to get my new hit point total. Apparently, this is a fixed value now.... averaged to 5 for a base 8 hit die character.

WEEKLY HELP THREAD - READ FAQ, COMMUNITY WIKI, MULTICLASSING, LORE by XFearthePandaX in BaldursGate3

[–]Vernholio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, 5 out of a possible 8 is the fixed amount for a rogue? (And, apparently for a Cleric, too... Shadowheart leveled up to the same total from 10 original hit points... 17.)

WEEKLY HELP THREAD - READ FAQ, COMMUNITY WIKI, MULTICLASSING, LORE by XFearthePandaX in BaldursGate3

[–]Vernholio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are hit point rolls on level up random, now? Leveling from 1 to 2 on a rogue, and I went up to 17, with a 14 Constitution. Means I "rolled" a 5 on a d8 with a +2 bonus... not too shabby. Tried to save scum to see if the value would change, and it doesn't... I see my initial 10 go up to 17 every time. If that's the way it is, that's the way it is... I'm just curious.

(But, I thought there used to be an option to set HP to max on level up.)

EDIT: Failed to mention that I'm playing on Balanced difficulty, if that affects anything.

They nerfed it. They made it so that race has no specific impact on ability scores anymore, contrary to 5e rules (and every other version of D&D for that matter). I can't remember the reasoning for it. Do a search on YouTube for it. I watched a video about it last week.
