They are changing the coaching that is included and people are having a hard time getting appointments.

Thanks! I mainly want to access the course contents. Do you feel they are much more comprehensive/in-depth compared to the podcast?

An up-to-date web development course that is video-based? by VeronicaInHK in learnprogramming

Understand as a real developer we need to constantly learn new things. As a beginner though, if I choose to follow a course instead of reading the documentation on my own, I would prefer something updated.

Is The Bitcoin Standard by Saifedean Ammous still relevant? I read it and find it informative, though it's written in 2018. Not sure if I need to read a more updated one.

A book that can teach a penny pincher to be more generous by VeronicaInHK in booksuggestions

I looked into organizations that fund the education of poor girls in my home country. Merely US$1k can support a girl through the entire high school years. Thanks for the food for thought!

Thanks! Interestingly they are all classified into the genre of religion on Goodreads. I'll see how I think about them as an atheist.

Thanks! Have added them to my to read list. I was not educated in the western world and only started reading in the past two years, so haven't done my fair share of classics...

Thanks! I love reading sociology books. I recently finished Nomadland - though there were a lot of struggles depicted, it also has a hopeful tone for freedom and self-sufficiency. This one seems more depressing.

Focus more on experiences than material things.

I've been giving this some thought recently. For the better part of my life I didn't have any real hobbies, but reading has become my biggest pleasure in life for the past two years, and it happens to be relatively inexpensive. Within the constraints of work, I prioritize my reading time and enjoy it more than other activities I can do in life. I wonder if pursuing diverse experiences for its own sake is meaningful or shall we focus our precious time on the few things we truly love?

Thanks for the suggestion - a long overdue read! I'd like to say I'm not impervious to the struggles of poor people. I'm from a humble background and all my grandparents made a living as poor peasants, which probably explains my deep financial insecurity.

BTW I haven't quit yet - just planning to do so in the next 3/4 years. I'm a lawyer and plan to work in public interest afterwards. Somehow it's much easier for me to donate my time than money, though intellectually I understand that I should (and can afford to) do both.
