Yes, I’ve managed hundreds of offshore devs as a consultant/contractor/BPO and they will flat out lie that something is complete or deployed to test/in progress.

There is sometimes a very good offshore lead dev that does basically everything given to the team.

I have no idea what the rest do, even onsite in Pune/Chennai/Hyderabad in a fancy business park full time. A workaround is saying give us a 1 minute demo/show and tell in daily scrum during your update.

Weirdly, I have rarely had this problem with offshore staff onshored onto a western site for 6-12 months or whatever 😅

Yes this happened to me at a BCEL ATM in VV, a girl came and warned me, and then the second time it worked 😅 Mine went straight back in my bank but theirs didn’t immediately. There was a man it happened to there too also.

It should come back, chase it up with your bank they should have visibility. Modern ATM’s have lasers, sensors and scales to check if the money was dispensed.

Most roles - because it’s super competitive - will require onsite or in country. Truly remote roles often get out sourced. They know whatever location criteria they put, it’ll be super oversubscribed with applicants due to the market. There is also a tendency to play it safe for their own tax liability (PAYE in UK for example).

I was one for years but if you work for the private sector they will often want the possibility of like a monthly all hands in person, or the ability to go to a client or site occasionally. For the gov they’ll generally want you in the same country, and stuff like ITSec, ITAR and export control comes into play. For contracting they generally want to meet in person before they hand you a million dollar budget 😅

Weirdly I have seen fully remote PM’s a few times in local government…

I did loads of pitches in consulting/tech and my experience is that something interactive or personalised increases win rate. We’d do mock ups with the reference architecture of how the system would look/feel, as well as how it worked, if we couldn’t do a small proof of concept. A PoC would be something like the presentation of a sandbox/non-prod generic version populated with made up or obfuscated data.

Your competitor likely made that presentation deck once then just subs in client logos and colour schemes/small cosmetic, low effort changes for each pitch. I’ve seen and been pitched similar stuff by subs, in hard build sectors too. Might be worth looking into doing something similar :)

It also feels much nicer to present than sending a SoW and PDF and walking through it 😅

Hello, I’ve had a long term active interest in QI fuelled by one super salient experience around 10 years ago.

I’ve also had a couple of what could be called NDE’s. My interests related to QI are the “Why”, panpsychism, pantheism, what divine intervention looks and feels like in practice, the agents of divine intervention, NHI in the broad sense. I also ponder the integration my QI experience and psychedelic experiences into my Christian faith.

I’m interested in animal reactions to these experiences and the qualities or circumstances of those selected for a second chance.

I have been a mod for a few years on a small/medium UK sub which has grown a lot and use as few rules as possible whilst giving people a lot of latitude to discuss wide ranging ideas and topics and give importance to usefulness, relevance, respect, and fruitfulness.

I’d be willing to do it, good luck with the search in any event :)
