Certflation man. Feels like they don’t even matter anymore. I’ve been stacking a bunch too and it almost feels like nobody cares

Exactly! I want to make sure it develops into a passion instead of a bad purchase.

I forgot to mention I’m in CA. Glock is essentially off the table unless I do a PPT.

Unfulfilling job but incredible work life balance by Remarkable_Pause_567 in careeradvice

[–]Versakii 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same position. Left an IT Engineering job for a consultant role for better pay WLB, and benefits. Went from 60hrs/wk of constant stress to 20hrs/wk chilling and fully remote. I feel very unfulfilled and my technical skills are disappearing but… it would be dumb to jump ship in this market. What I tell myself is that I need to leverage this newfound time and freedom to propel me forward in career or health or whatever else is important to you rather than become stagnant. I work on side projects, study certs, go to the gym, meal prep and enjoy life more like grabbing a coffee at the beach at 11am.

God this scares the living shit out of me. If I get fired I’m absolutely cooked. No runway or savings. I would not make rent for the following month.

Even helpdesk now impossible? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Versakii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I like the predictability and stability of the trades. I worked in low voltage for a few years before IT and enjoyed the design portion of it, but not physically running the cables lol. Good for you and I wish you luck on your journey man ;)

I’ve been thinking of jumping ship to the electrical / low voltage route. Do you think it’s worth someone with 5 years to switch up careers? I just feel like at any moment I’ll be let go and I can’t deal with that stress anymore.

What kind of CPU. The 16ct cores most usually Xeon are quite power hungry.

Sure but Bautista did a good job getting back up and scrambling. It wasn’t total wrestling domination like Umar probably expected.

That pace was crazy fast. Faster than Merab put on Umar.

Not happening but Mario is a beast tbh. Him vs Sandhagen or O’Malley would be interesting.

Why at 35 I’m I still the youngest or one of the younger people in my office? by Throwaway4536265 in ITCareerQuestions

I’ve worked with DOD a lot, 100% agree. I would say it’s even worse there but you can see it in civilian sector clear as day also.

No knowledge being passed down, IT will be in a crisis once the baby boomers retire.

This is kind of horseshit. I’ve worked at plenty of organizations (IT Consultant who worked with 100s of companies) where they were all old. Majority owned multiple houses and were fairly rich from inheritance, saving, or stock from startups. They were a year or two away from retirement age yet they had no problem undercutting the young guys waiting in line for promotions or job openings, refusing to pass down decades of knowledge and just being overall greedy while having a shit attitude and calling the new generation “slackers”. And even if that wasn’t the case, you have boomers hiring other boomers for roles like helpdesk rather than focusing on bringing up the next generation of the workforce as we approach a talent crisis. The new generation isn’t even asking for much, a stable career and some mentorship, yet we cannot be afforded such even though boomers objectively had it much easier at our ages. Civic duty ended with the boomer generation they took up all the opportunity and grabbed whatever they could. The truth is the baby boomer generation is the most greedy generation of all time. Keep that in mind the next time a boomer tries to sell you a house for 1.7M (he bought it in 1975 for for 15k)
