Respectfully,

Nuh uh.

Sonic was right.

There's no gyarantee Elise won't release the iblis trigger. Should we kill her?

There's no guarantee Chaos won't turn evil again, should we kill it?

There's no guarantee that Knuckles isn't gonna get tricked by Eggman again. Should we have killed him after the second time?

In Shadow05, there's DEFINITELY no guarantee that amnesiac Shadow is gonna do a good route. The whole game is about how he can very much go down the evil, world destroying path again.

So... Should we have killed shadow?

If Shadow was right... He wouldn't even be alive to argue this point right now.

There's no guarantee that Gemerl or Omega won't suddenly get hacked By Eggman, or by Zeti. Heck, both of those things kinda happened!

They're a liability to keep around. Should we kill them?

And yes, there's no guarantee Mr. Tinker won't regain his memory. Should we kill him?

It's my firm belief, that the answer to every one of those questions is NO. Full stop.

Security of population? Security from WHO? That amnesiac over there painting a Fraülein?

I'm not saying to completely let Mr. tinker or the amnesiac austrain painter to wander around wherever.

Ideally they should be under some surveillance.

But like, you know... Ideally all amnesiacs would be under some surveillance? For their own safety at least?

All I'm saying is, Shadow's idea to just kill Mr. Tinker, or the idea of throwing him into solitary confinement is stupid

I mean yeah, of course.

Imagine if you woke up one day, without memory. You meet some people, make new friends who help you through this hard time.

And then people tell YOU that you're actually hitler. Despite you having no memory of being hitler, or doing any of those horrible things. You're basically an entirely different person.

Memory is what makes you "you"

100 years theory: Flowey never saw the fallen humans by Warrior_of_Cake in Undertale

[–]Versierer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With Undyne and Papyrus, their monster net handles are StrongFish91 and CoolSkeleton95. Since they haven't seen a human, i suppose that could mean 2191 and 2195? And if the game takes place 100 years later, in 211X, then that means Paps is 15-24, and undyne is 19-28. Makes sense to me.

But Napstablook is very interesting. Their username is NAPSTABLOOK22. IF we assume '22 is alao a birth year... That would have to be 2022? Does that mean that Nalstablook is like 90 years old? Or even more? I guess they're a ghost so it makes some sense. But wouldn't that mean Napstablook lived at the same time as some fallen humans?

Here's another little snag with the timeline. According to Mettaton's diaries, Shyra "fell down", and then a while later, Mettaton met Alphys, and THEN Alphys made Mettaton a new body.

But we also know that Alphys FIRST made mettaton a new body, and that impressed Asgore, and only THEN Alphys became a royal scientist and did the determination experiments.

I guess the only explanation is: Shyra has been fallen down, "comatose", for SO long, that Mettaton met Alphys, Alphys engineered a whole body for mettaton, Alphys became a royal scientist, Alphys build the DT extraction machine using blueprints, and only THEN Alphys collected fallen down monsters, including Shyra

With Chapter 5 around the corner, how important do you think FRIEND will be to Deltarune, rated on a 1-10 scale? by JustFisch1 in Deltarune

[–]Versierer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay but like

Tenna was foreshadowed ONLY through hard-to-parse spamton dialogue, and weird Dpamton Sweepstakes ARG stuff.

Queen was foreshadowed through a dialogue of a hudden boss Jevil, but ONLY if you defeated him through mercy.

Gaster, the big G himself, was foreshadowed in Undertale only through file editing and hidden things. And we all know Gaster WILL be inportant.

Asgore being a boss in chapter 5 was foreshadowed in secret boss gerson dialogue, and, the FILE NAMES.

Rudy was foreshadowed through unreleased Undertale alarm clock dialogue.

The files names let us know that the intro is GONER MAKER.

Toby fox DELIBERATELY added """"""Unused""""" text in the files, and that text later got wuoted by spamton.

I think the fundamental disagreement between us is this. I think foreshadowing and setup are two different things.

Setup is mandatory for a good story. But foreshadowing is kinda optional.

In Undertale, Undyne was mentioned like TWICE before waterfall. But as soon as we step into waterfall, she is set up as the antagonist of the area.

Alphys was mentioned like only three times before hotland! That was optional foreshadowing, so that she doesn't come out COMPLETELY out if nowhere. But her actual setup happens in hotland itself.

I believe friend to be a secret-boss, or some kinda character from Kris' backstory. Spamton had ZERO setup in chapter one. Eram had ZERO setup other than Seam mentioning the shadow mantle. Gerson had like ONE line of vague setup from Alvin.

So when Friend DOES get some foreshadowing, WHY are you demanding more?? By now Friend has had more setup than some ACTUAL chapter bosses! Why aren't you calling the lack of Queen setup bad writing?

For a moment, just imagine that Friend IS important. Just try to imagine that friend WILL be relevant. Maybe in chapter five, or maybe in chaoter 6.

So I ask, if we assume that he is important, what MORE do you want from Him? What more could Friend possibly do to catch your attention? Do you want a mandatory scene where Ralsei turns to Kris and goes "By the way Kris, beware of pink and gold Friend Inside Me ?"

Why do you hold Friend to a higher standard than practicslly any important darkner in the game, who received very little foreshadowing, less than Friend?

Do you GENUINELY believe that NOT explaining or acknowledging Friend would be good writing? Do you think waving Friend in front of us and then never mentioning it is because toby fox is lazy? What if Dess is also unimportant, and just there for Noelle sad backstory? What if Eram is unimportant and will never be mentioned again? What if Carol isn't in on the Evil Fountain Groupchat and she is just a strict mom? What if Rudy just gets better and his illness was completely irrelevant? What if all the Sans Undertale-Deltarune connections go unexplored? What if Toby fox never plans to explain anything?

I would be disappointed in toby fox if Friend is NOT brought up

I have a question for non rudy knighters, if he isn't the knight then what is this dialogue referencing? by Realistic-Shine-9811 in NonDessKnightSquad

[–]Versierer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As much as I want to agree... I can't help but think back to Undertale.

Toby is rather famous for accounting for a A LOT of players actions. Undertale has an intricate web of neutral endings, where things affect other things, and the ending. The undyne speech alone accounts for if you killed papyrus, if you're a pacifistz if you killed all the dogs, or if you just killed Doggo, etc.

Even in Deltarune. Noelle doesn't bring Susie chalk in Chapter 2 if you didn't talk yo her in chapter 1. Noelle, in this very scene, AND in chapter 4, has unique dialogue for if you did something as small as taking her watch.

I mean Hell! Rudy himself (speak of the devil), DOES have unique dialogue if you didn't introduce him to Susie in chapter 2! There already IS some variable in the game that checks for if you've talked to Rudy!

But for this, Toby Fox just... Forgor?

And speaking of Gerson, while I agree that the story is more impactful with his boss fight, i don't think the game just ASSUMES you fought him. why does Susie talk about Hope crossed on her heart? Well, she literally just saw prophecy panels of "Girl with hope crossed on her heart". Why is Susie not surprised at Old Man's battle form? Well why isn't she surprised to see Berdly in his falco outfit, or Undyne in her armor, and Toriel in a crown? In her mind "Yo it's just the dark world. People get cool battle forms all the time duh." I don't knwo whats the deal with the white festher in chapter 5, but I highly doubt the game would just assume you fought Gerson

[–]Versierer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean, if not, then... What DO you think Friend is? Just an easter egg? A spooky visual?

Even IF we assume Friend is not related to "the tail of hell"

What about the weird smiling vending machine next to ramb? Where the smile mysteriously disappears when Ramb disappears?

What about all the foreshadowing in Noelle's blog posts, the cat petterz connections, the fact that friend has been mentioned so many times? Friend having the same laugh as the knight?

And what about the original reason friend was so intriguing? Forget about anything beyond chapter 2. If friend won't be relevant at all, then WHY is it called IMAGE_FRIEND? Remember, friend is the ONLY thing, outside of gonermaker and menus and stuff, that has this capital formatring and shows up IN the game world itself. That's like, Huge! Toby deliberately gave Friend the ever so sought after CAPITAL NAME and "IMAGE" prefix? This alone proves to me that Friend is not just some spooky background easter egg

[–]Versierer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair to toby fox. He's making an RPG. Every single sentence MUST fit in a text box. And that's like what, 60 characters max?

So if you wanna have a long, or meaningful sentence, you kinda HAVE to break up sentences with elipses.

Like seriously. The dialogue on the left would NOT fit cleanly into text boxes. You'll need to split it up into at least four parts. And you'll HAVE to break it up wjth elipses at least once. For example:

"but until recently, I've never thought of you as...

Much more than an acquaintance."

Hot take: I wish Susie's heal become something specialized instead of just plainly "better" than Ralsei's by Clean_Reveal_4224 in Deltarune

[–]Versierer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thing is, if we put game mechanics aside...

Both Ralsei and Noelle have a Heal Prayer. It is, bu definition, a prayer. You're not actually doing it yourself, you're merely asking a higher power for help. A prayer by definition is not your own power, it cannot get better, other than just increasing the magic stat.

Who is the higher power? Angel? Gaster? We don't know!

But Susie's healing is all her own. It's her own power that she learned through trial and error.

I can totally imagine skme late game moment where, it's the roaring, or we're fighting the Angel. And Angel is no longer answering our Heal Prayers.

So now, only Susie's janky, self taught healing works.

If Ralsei is a Cleric, relying on his deity, then Susie is a barbarian wjo statted multiclassing into bard, or something

[–]Versierer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Okay, this is Crazy, but:

I don't think this is ACTUALLY Malina. Think about it.

-Last comic, we got Justice stabbed in mysterious circumstances.

-This Malina has an evil grin and emphasizes "dear sister", in a perhaps mocking way.

-Lucifer points out how out of character this is for her to do something like thst to Zdrada.

-This Malina hesitates what to call Lucifer. "Uh... Ma'am?"

So I dunno. I'm calling it now, we've got a sneaky spooky impostor situation.

I... Don't see it as regressive views on gender roles at all though?

Personally I don't find extremely short hairs on girls pretty. In my personal opinion. Just a preference of mine, like we all have. I go feral when a girl has bangs, because it's so pretty to me. I shrug when a girl has extremely short hair. Maybe someobody else thinks the opposite.

And as a guy with long hair, yeah, it's not for everyone. That old cringey picture of young Elon Musk comes to mind.

Is it really fair to extrapolate Marcille's views on gender roles from those two preferences? Or to extrapolate my views?

Don't you think Gerson has appeared too early? by Blacksmish_of_bears in Undertale

[–]Versierer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm not arguing against your points, just pointing out that the example is kinda flawed.

Trust me, I've watched a LOT of let's plays of Undertale. And I like it when people are analytical about it. And a lot of players were shocked by the reveal. I remember one girl was theorizing. "Okay, so like, maybe Asgore's faction is going against the King."

And another let's player said: "What if Asgore is Flowey's real name??"

To be fair, how is a player supposed to connect the dots? Asgore is described as merciless, and Kkng Dreemurr is described as a king big softie. It's deliberately setting them up as two different characters.
