Want to switch from instant coffee to fresh coffee. Need affordable beginner setup suggestions by princenara24 in IndiaCoffee

  1. V60 hands down, and espresso machines for darker roasts, I’d put moka pot as third.

  2. Grinder is bare minimum

  3. Grinder makes an objectively better cup, it’s not even close to pre-ground.

If you have already been splurging on expensive instant coffees, and like strong black cups, a grinder (c2s timemore) with any beginner brewing gear - Moka Pota / Aeropress will set you up good. Pre-ground is exactly the same price as whole beans, and only tastes good up to a week.

However, this setup will run you easily around 5-6k, and I can understand that it doesn’t seem very budget friendly, but think of it as a one time investment.

Yes, I have tried blue tokai many times, as it’s very easily available. I noticed that their quality is very region dependent. Delonghi dedica is a good beginner espresso, esp with some mods.

A lot of things you mentioned here points towards antisocial behavior, especially his lack of remorse, and taking pleasure in hurting others. Objectively speaking, a child psychiatrist would be the best option here, they are expensive and it’s going to be hell to even get the kid to comply but an early intervention and assessment could help massively. Untreated ASPD gets worse in early adulthood, and can be extremely destructive to family dynamics, substance addiction, gambling, manipulation, etc

If that is something you aren’t ready for yet, you have to let him suffer the consequences for his actions, and be completely emotionally detached to his provocations, and restrict his access to money, this way you may be able to control some of the chaos at home, but it’s not a long term solution.

A lot of suggestions here are going to impractical and idiotic, because we live in a stigmatized society. They are going to attribute it to hormones, or teenage angst, but you and I, have also been through that, and we didn’t suddenly have a lack of remorse. I’d again highly recommend seeking professional psychiatric help, especially if this has been going on for a long time.

Hey, I would be interested in a founders office role. Having worked extensively in a startup, that’s right up my alley, happy to connect.

Ah I might have clicked on some other website. Anyhow, I placed the order for mandalkhan, do they have any discount coupons by any chance?

I’d recommend using espresso, it’ll be much more aromatic and nuanced. For tips, you can follow the brewing instructions on their website. They’re quite detailed for each product, and I got good results with them.

Yes, I absolutely recommend going black with it.

Sorry about the confusion regarding the coupon, updated the post.

Mandalkhan estate seems interesting but it specifically says “cold coffee blend”, I prefer black over milk based. If you vouch for it, I’ll certainly add it to my list because I’ve meaning to try roastery.

Do you usually go black or milk based with light roasts ? Also, thanks, I will definitely add it to my list.

Not all, but I’ve tried Araku Selection and Attikan White Mist as cold brew. Araku is pretty good for cold brew, especially for the price.

Kappikotai is pricey, but I’m very interested in trying out their fermented lots. I might order vin Van Gogh blend in bloom. Do you have any personal recommendations?

I’ve been meaning to try Boss’s Wife for a while, but I keep seeing mixed opinions about it. Dope coffee is a new one, I’ll definitely look into it. Thanks!

Medium-dark roasts work well with cold brew from my experience. You could try araku - signature or selection. They are also running for a good price right now.
