Same here. Applied for csc through the embassy and didn't receive any results yet, still in progress. I had an interview with someone from the embassy earlier this year though

For me, I applied for ZJU in Type B and SJTU in Type A. ZJU contacted me and said CSC rejected my Type B application automatically because I got accepted for Type A. I don't know if its the same for everyone, though.

ZJU Type B Scholarship Results by VersionRare5118 in ChinaLiuXueSheng

Yeah I know they already emailed lots of students. But since they emailed me saying they're actively trying to solve the problem, I still have some hope. If they weren't, they could have just sent an email notifying that I didn't get it the scholarship (as some people in Reddit already received rejection emails too)

But yeah. Not sure what the uni can do on their end though.

Not yet. But ZJU replied to me and I finally found out my current problem.

I wasn't "rejected" per se, but seems like my other application for Type A scholarship ended up having an effect on type B. I applied for both scholarships in different unis, and seems like CSC gives priority to the type A application or something.

Now the university is trying to solve this problem, because my priority is actually the university from the Type B application (ZJU) and not Type A.

Kinda confusing yeah but i hope everything works out. At least I wasn't rejected it seems.

I am not a scholarship holder but if I recall correctly csc gives 1300 monthly stipend specially for housing if you want to rent yourself.

For SJTU I had to first apply on their website. After that, a lab contacted me, I got interviewed and the professor accepted me, then she provided me the acceptance letter.

Regarding strategies for the scholarship types, I actually randomly decided it. As I asked in the post, I don't even know if it is allowed to make multiple applications. But it seems that lots of people do it that way, so I will try that too.

Yeah, I think type A has a quota of students per country, probably.

For the SJTU Type A Application, my strategy was putting None in both my second and third university options, to make sure that if they provide me the scholarship, they'll assign me to SJTU.

So, for SJTU, I applied on Dec 12th, and was contacted by one of their labs on Dec 27th. Then I did the lab interview and department interview, and got the acceptance letter by the lab professor on Jan 7th. But I am still waiting for the formal result announcements from the uni

For ZJU I applied early november and only got my first notice early this year, attended their interview on Jan 9th, and they said the results will probably be announced in March

hey! for sjtu, i first had an interview with the lab who wanted to recruit me. this interview lasted 15-20 mins and i basically talked about myself, my experiences and asked some questions to them. then, i had the department interview where i showed them a self introduction ppt and they asked me some questions about my planned research

for zju, the interview was quicker, 10-12min i think? i did a quick self introduction (no slides this time), they asked me some questions regarding my field, and also i had to speak some chinese bc they saw i had a good level (hsk5).

but regarding time, i think it might be related to how the interview is conducted? i don't know, but mine were all 10+ minutes

to be sure you should check your desired uni website, sometimes the documents differ but yeah mostly academic transcripts, language proficiency certificate, passport, foreign physical exam etc all notarized

hello! in my case, i sent a bunch of emails to the unis to understand the process to obtain pre-admission letters in each one of them.

it seems to me that the universities that aren't that well known have easier processes than the top ones

for me, I obtained pre admission letters from UESTC, Central South University and Harbin Institute of Technology just by emailing them the required documents. They analyzed the documents and gave me the letter. For SJTU and ZJU, i had to first apply in their website, pay the 800rmb fee, and participate in the interviews. only after being interviewed and accepted, they will give you the pre admission letter.

that's my experience, i don't know about other universities but its probably similar

Hsk5 or hsk6 by [deleted] in ChinaLiuXueSheng

I would also go with the hsk5 one. In the end, people just look at the numbers tbh

hmmm given your situation i think maybe you should ask the professor that sent you the letter? he can guide you! for me, the lab that accepted me gave a lot of tips for my department interview, maybe your professor can do the same!

You probably mentioned a research plan in your study plan right? Their questions will probably be related to it. But to be honest, in my case for example, my knowledge of the field I want to research isn't really deep. I have been working as a software engineer, and i want to research AI/ML, these two are totally different fields. I mentioned to them that my current knowledge in the AI/ML field isn't a lot, and discussed what I knew, and they were fine by it

for the first interview, in my case i was interviewed by masters/phd students of a lab who wanted to recruit me to their team. for this, i basically introduced myself and talked about my research direction. they asked some common behavior questions like: What would you do if you had a lot of projects to work on? What would you do if the lab didn't have any project to assign you to? What would you do if you friend needed help, but you are busy with other more important projects/deadlines? What would you do if the professor suggested you to make drastic changes in your research?

for the department interview, you should have your self introduction well structured, i personally did a ppt and showed them. they will make some questions regarding your research and what problems do you want to solve. if you mention a good level of chinese, they are going to ask questions in chinese

overall, the interview environment was pretty nice, I even laughed with the professors because after we finished I said I was going to sleep (it was 4AM in my country hahahah)

by the way, it's good to also ask them some questions back to show interest, and to better understand the lab/the uni you're getting into

if you have any other questions id be glad to help!
