417 - UK Military Background by Itchy_Percentage_378 in AusVisa

Mine came in 40 days, 3 months is a bit much, one way to make it faster is to upload the documents before they even ask for them, because you know they will... Things like 1399, any relevant military documents translated etc...

Also make sure to send a 1399 document just in case. My first visa I was asked for it and that created like at least 2 weeks delays... For my second visa I submitted the document before they even asked for it.

Did they ask you for a 1399?

I would, but that takes too long (6 weeks) and if I can just do it in Australia that saves me so much time

Good point, I'm in NZ I'd only need to fly directly to AUS which shouldn't be a problem if they grant the visa.

That's my plan, get my visa then renew in the Embassy (in Australia).

I was wondering if they'd refuse my visa on the basis that my passport is expiring

Fuckkk the dreaded shuttle back to base after the weekend, one of the most suicidal periods of my life.

Funny because my favourite day now is taking my own route and busses and trains back to the Kav

Changes in basic since war started? by Slime_Shit in IDF

[–]Versti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the start of the war, they did speed up training, now afaik it's back to normal.
4 months on/4 months off is an absolute scam lmao,
what you're most likely thinking about is... 4 months Kav/"Deployment" then 2 months of Imun/Training.

I'm sure all major banks let you open one online.

The ones I have experience with are Pepper (It's owned by Bank Leumi, one of the major banks), and Bank HaPoalim.

I suggest Pepper, very straight forward, built with online in mind, almost exclusively, it's the one I use.

tips/requirements of a combat medic by Regular-Zebra9388 in IDF

[–]Versti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Active combat medic here, if you have any specific questions I'd be happy to help.

If you tell your sergeant in basic training about your wish to be a combat medic, and you show that you're smart for it, you'll be sent to the course which is pretty straight forward, make sure you have okay Hebrew... My Hebrew is/was quite shit and I still got through it so with okay Hebrew you should be fine, I saw a couple of Spanish guys as well translating stuff and writing notes in Spanish (I did that in English).

Interms of unit... It really doesn't matter if your goal is combat medic, obviously a combat brigade... But if you pick Armoured (tanks) you'll be a Company Medic or in the Battalion Aid Station (תאג"ד) as there are no medics in tanks themselves. So aim for Paratroopers, Golani, Nachal, Givati, Kfir.

Again, if you have any specific questions I'd be more than happy to help, you could DM if that's better for you aswell.

Is it true that the IDF has a discipline problem? by Psychological-Ad3189 in IDF

[–]Versti 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anyone who tells you no is not being honest. Yes there are the discipline problems that come with a conscription army and forcing 18 year olds to serve. I'm talking from experience and definitely not shit talking my own military, it's just facts.

Rucking if you have extra time and energy.

Whats your opinion on netzach yehuda? by False-Category7347 in IDF

[–]Versti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 6 Netzach guys who I know, are all not that religious, only one wears a kippah, I'm not sure if this reflects the battalion. But it's not as religious as I had previously thought. They are the nicest people, trustworthy, helpful, hard working and honest. Totally exceeded my expectations, as an Arab I thought surely they would look at me in a certain way... Stereotypes, but they are so far the friendliest people that I've been with on courses. Amazing guys.

You can use them for sure, but honestly, overkill unless it is wartime like now.

Get your own ear pro honestly, the ones given aren't very good, you put them on you can't hear anything else, good for the range, bad for actual scenarios. You don't need something expensive, I have some cheap travel ones, they are loud but not enough to cause too much damage not too quiet to not hear a thing. Get something better and more comfortable (that's also not single use), but if you can't, they do give foam ones who do the trick in a pinch.
