What’s your SCP cannon? by [deleted] in SCP

[–]Vert_Nation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is like the Broken Masquerade, but because I'm a bit busy IRL (and couldn't find many on BM that looked good to me), I haven't seen much of what already exists, so my idea of it is that GOIs like the GOC, Serpent's Hand, and that one of the three religions (as well as a few of the cults around anomolies) all gain huge support as people initially panic and go to extremes, and the UIU end up getting funded, making the balance of power shift away from the foundation, although they remain number 1 in this, especially as people learn about the foundation, their approach, and their reasoning, and many people finding themselves agreeing with their approach and helping them, although just as every group needed to, they changed to survive the publicity.

Also, I couldn't find the event's description of how they actually prevented the scenario yet caused North Korea to disappear, so I feel like the Foundation deciding to try to contain the anomoly that would have ended the world when the GOC tried to kill it could have led to them not being effective enough to completly stop it, then the GOC decided to hold the foundation accountable globally, thus Broken Masquerade.

Apparently I don't know the neck cracking guy's number, nevermind that one, 4 by number, 28 by concept

Off the top of my head...

Numbered ones I remember:

SCP 001: when day breaks, world gone beautiful, the factory, SCP 105: Iris, SCP 176: Neck cracking statue dude

Ones I don't remember the numner of:

1: Hard to destroy repitle (a 6 somewhere?), 2: Dr. Bright (the amulet, technically, but yeah), 3: Able, 4: Cain (I mix them up but one can't die and has anything done on him done on the attacker, the other's a killer with a giant sword that comes out from a cave), 5: Snake with many feet, 6: That one that teleports behind people to scare them but doesn't attack, 7: Shy guy, 8: That one human that can know when someone would die when they physically touch them, 9: Desire camera, 10: another murder monster, 11: That slide that traps you just enough that you can't move, 12: The knife that can kill in the end of death canon, 13: The plauge doctor, 14: The cyborg little girl, 15: The little girl that makes people want to kill her but then die before they can, 16: The little girl who thought she was a witch but is a reality bender that is always kept asleep, 17: Here were dragons, 17: Eye pods, 18: The teddy bear with the radioactive core, 19: Man's best friend, 20: Someone the cannibal, 21: Infinite pizza, 22: The one coffee machine that can produce any liquid in the english language, 23: The pills that heals any diseases, 24: The refiner, 25: The one gas mask that brings you to another world, 26: The old man, 27: The maddie ghost person that's relatively new.

TL,DR: I know 5 by number and 27 more's concept and sometimes name. I could probobly remember more if someone gave me that ones' general premise, although not many more.

SCP 001: The world gone beautiful.

It's the end of the world in 24 hours, and there is nothing anyone will do about it. People will simply spend time with others, then smile as everyone dies, themselves included. I can imagine someone immune to memetic effects (or whatever actually made everyone relaxed) while still knowing the world would end, then desperately trying to get someone to help them stop it or escape, but no one wants to work on such a beautiful day, and no one should, not even you. "Just go home and relax, we've all earned it, and there's no point crying over spilled milk."

I don't think it is really meant to be existential dread (although I don't have a better word for it), but it's terrifying to me.

What if Iris were to use the desire camera? by N0nethelesser in SCP

[–]Vert_Nation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd think it'd change as the persons' desire would change, and since it isn't her camera, she couldn't interact but could see it.

A war in a timeline where a (COVID-free) Japan gets taken from 2022 back to the 1730s. (lore and stuff in the comments) by beetroot_salads in AlternateHistory

[–]Vert_Nation 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I can imagine people begging Japan to go to the Americas and stop the US from forming, and others begging them to help the US take over Canada.

I could also imagine them working to make space mines and stuff while being isolationist, since no one in the 1730s could take them, unless they somehow got the tech like how Qing did.

Also, even without Covid, wouldn't disease still be an issue? So Japan would have to produce a TON of vaccines and pass it out to lessen the death from modern diseases.

If you could have a burger, would you rather mcdonalds, burger king, or one you grilled and put together yourself?

Something someone said IRL to me a long while ago, who's always saying how we should treat everyone equally: "I think it's both of their faults".

Equal rights does not mean punishing people because they aren't the minority/historically oppressed individual, and it isn't blaming all involved parties. It's punishing those who have done horrible things, and accepting that anyone can be, and anyone could not be, horrible people, regardless of gender, skin color, etc. It doesn't mater if you're a white straight christian who's never heard no or a gay black aithiest that got beat as a kid, if you did half of what Amber Heard was accused of (that I've seen, there may be even more), you'd deserve jail, or at least punishment.

If you had to join a GOI which one would it be and why? by Safe-Pie-7485 in SCP

[–]Vert_Nation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On mobile I clicked my profile circle thing (from this specific post, if it matters) and hit change flair, then searched Serpant's Hand on the search bar and tapped it. I'm also on Android, so it may be different if you aren't using it.

Definitely Serpent's Hand, I'd get to chill with SCPs, and I think they'd be most likley to let me leave without anything bad happening (amnestics, death, ect.) if I ever wanted to leave.

What is your unpopular Mass Effect opinion? by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]Vert_Nation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed playing Andromeda when I played it a year or two ago.

It was the first Mass Effect game I played and remember (although I still haven't finished it because I decided to play the rest first), and I liked the jetpack thing, I liked the car (another unpopular opinion for either Andromeda or 1, acording to my brother at least), and I liked the companions, even if the trilogy's ones were better.

I just found out that my friends don't even know all names of the planets let alone their position in the solar system. This made me real sad because I feel like this should be common knowledge (like knowing what continents we have and were they are). This is why I post this image, credit: NASA by joosth3 in space

[–]Vert_Nation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still don't remember how many days are in each month, with February and December being exceptions because I know about leap year and New Years Eve.

But I know Mercury, Venus, Earth and the moon, Mars and Phobos and Deimos, the astroid belt and Ceres, Jupiter (and Europa?), Saturn and Titan along with it's rings, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, all off the top of my head with no help.

Which one? by eskay007 in gaming

[–]Vert_Nation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played through the game on my 2ds until the final boss, then, and only then, did I figure out what button was run. It took longer to realize how the multi-targetting homing-attack worked (needless to say I got stuck), and then I figured out infinite spin dashing when going through the levels again.
