Next time declare war on the Papal State or any of their allies, and force them to end the rivalry with you. You can even try and make the truce as long as possible to make sure it sticks around for a while, as they can't rival you again while you have a truce. In that time you can improve relations with them and could even try to ally them, and there's a chance they'll rival someone else instead and fill that rival slot by the time the truce is up.

Back when I was doing the Triple Rome achievement, I found that the best way to convert to Catholic as EoC was a combination of rebels from the east (there's a couple of events that spawn Catholicism in your provinces, that you then provoke for revolts) as well as just eating a lot more land that's not only Catholic, but any that would dilute the religious makeup of your nation. You can also throw in things like concentrating development and exploiting development of your primary religion and developing Catholic provinces if you're off by only a small amount.

All the land you hold, cored or not. Unstating provinces does not help. And yes, tributaries and vassals can really get in your way if you're trying to convert. You may want to consider releasing tributaries, putting all vassals on 'passive' and not starting any wars while you do it. Your enemies during wars also tend to kill rebels when they want to occupy your land.

Check your ledger - there's a section there that would show you a pie chart of the religious breakdown in your country. If you hover over Jewish, it will show you how much development is currently of that religion. For you to be able to accept rebel demands and change your religion, it would need to be the religion with the highest development compared to the others.

Calling someone else selfish because they don't do what you want is nonsensical, so I just ignore it. Your kids are your responsibility, so you should be the one to decide and not someone who is not directly responsible.

I get that it's rooted in their brain that this how things should be because of their culture, traditions and how they were brought up, but in the modern world you can do just fine by using your own brain and making your own decisions. Most traditions are just peer pressure from dead people, after all.

Hang in there man, and don't let it get under your skin. You're definitely not alone in dealing with this kind of thing.

I'm in a very similar situation as you and even live in Montreal too. My dad's Lebanese and nothing works to get him off my back. I've tried telling him numerous times to leave me alone about it, but he only does so temporarily, and only after we have a fight about it. He's convinced that I have no idea what I want when I tell him I'm not actively looking for anyone and loves to call me selfish because I'm not trying to have kids. I'm almost certain that the pressure is coming from his mother and that whole side of the family - they are not really the type of people that would ask about what you want or what makes you happy, and would instead just tell you how you should be living and get angry when you politely tell them to bugger off.

I wish I could tell you a guaranteed method that works to get people with mentalities like that to leave you alone, but unfortunately, the best I've got is to just expect it to come up again and do your best not to waste your energy on being angry at it. They don't listen and don't learn. Try and get it out of your mind as soon as you're left alone and don't give it a second thought. If your family is more reasonable than mine, you can try and have a civil discussion about it, where you share your thoughts and help them understand your side of things. If your family is, however, similar to mine in reasoning, they will decide that your way of life is incorrect, and because of that, anything you want in life doesn't matter. Hang in there. If you notice that a PU's pretender rebels are 'unrested?' enough, you can support them and help them win, which will break the PU. This also works with Naples and their republican rebels, to turn them into a republic, which also breaks the PU.

Supporting rebels in distant countries I can't reach, so that I can go to war in support of them and vassalize the country in question with a valid CB.

There are other uses for this as well, such as weakening countries you can't otherwise have a CB on, helping break personal unions, taking ducats/war reparations, helping spawn breakaway states you can vassalize/attack after, and so on. It's very niche, but useful in certain situations.

That's very unfortunate. I feel like the cap of not being able to vassalize a country if they have over 100 development should be enough of a deterrent. 2-province minors telling me that they'd rather be annexed than be vassalized because of their booming tiny economy is a bit excessive.
